Clive Bibby: Dead Man Walking

I suppose it is too much to expect those who have spent the last nine years devoted to the proposition that Donald Trump is a threat to democracy to finally admit his misdemeanours pale into insignificance compared to the Biden family and all who promoted that lot as the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Well l’m happy to be the sucker who says it’s time for those incorrigible “has-beens” to accept they got it horribly wrong.

But no doubt, such is their hatred for Trump that they will fail to see the opportunity for a Damascus like conversion. More's the pity.

The world will be a better place only when the billions spent on propping up possibly the worst Presidency in modern history are transferred to making sure it never happens again.

The only thing left in this bizarre sequence of events during the last days of the Biden administration is for Joe Biden to pardon himself.

And my money is on the likelihood that he will do so in a final attempt to escape the jail time he and others had spent years preparing for Donald Trump.

Because if he doesn’t, my guess is that all those who took part in his administration’s unjustified, relentless pursuit of the former President will be exposed as guilty by association and will likely suffer the same consequences for their part in this sordid chapter of American political history.

I am talking about the clean out of all the political hacks and “hit men and women” who spent years trying to obstruct the Trump bandwagon as it gained strength and popularity simply by doing what it promised.

It is unlikely that we will ever again see such a reversal of two parties’ fortunes in such a quick time.

Trump is a phenomenon that has taken the US political stage like no other before him.

He has turned the Republican Party from previously being the preserve of the wealthy industrialists and Ivy league educated elite into what had previously been the party of working and middle class Americans including a large section of blacks, non-degree whites and Hispanics - those who, up until now, overwhelmingly voted Democrat.

The only thing left to complete the jigsaw puzzle is the way in which the new administration sets about draining the swamp.

I wouldn’t like to be in the shoes of previous leaders of the Justice Department, the FBI and the ClA who had politicised their departments to such an extent that their only function was to get Trump.

Don’t be surprised if people like James Clapper, Jim Comey,  Merrick Garland, Adam Schift and Chuck Schumer are either hurriedly buying air tickets to a foreign land or trying to find a defence attorney that isn’t already subject to investigations for criminal activity themselves.

However, my guess is that Trump will be magnanimous in victory.

He doesn’t need to be vindictive.

His landslide victory is enough reward without stooping to the level of his adversaries.

There is simply too much to do and so little time.

Be prepared for some exciting developments on the world stage.

The cavalry is about to come over the hill and not before time.

Let us hope the same thing happens in NZ. Proper leadership.

Well said Clive. This was the most consequential election in our lifetime. A landslide that was too big to be manipulated by the corrupt Dems as they did in 2020. The US has a true leader, and against all odds, single-handedly took on the corrupt Deep State and won.

Erudite comment Clive. I totally agree.

'His landslide victory ...'. Trump 77,234,701 votes (49.9%), Harris 74,938,716 (48.4%) - margin 2,295,985 votes (1.5%). Hardly a landslide, the result distorted by the archaic Electoral College mechanism.

Dear Mr Bibby. I am a resident of New Zealand, and what appalls me is that in 2016, when Donald Trump began his " walk toward the Presidency", that how the American MSM suddenly turned against him, when prior to that time he was considered a " Man of repute". Our NZ MSM then " followed suit" and used the opines of the American MSM (and a TVNZ Reporter based in New York, who with her verbal tirades painted Trump 'as evil')- to "place in front of New Zealanders" the same vile opines, leading many of our Country Men/Women to form opinion's that had no basis in real time, and they did not want to hear counter argument. Social media (in the words of Jacinda Ardern) then spread disinformation/misinformation that quickly, much of it out right lies. What was never acknowledged either by American Media and/or NZ is what Trump achieved for the American People, by way of increasing employment, wages, reducing cost of living and across the World, with ensuring that a " Peaceful existence prevailed".
Now contrary to this, was what certain members of the Democrat Party (and I include the Clinton's), duly elected to either The House of Representatives & The Senate and this includes the former Vice President Joe Biden, had been accomplishing for their personal gain ( up to 2016 and after)- and it is on record what Joe Biden's Family, including Hunter had been up to, whilst Joe was VP - matters never even being placed in print with any American Media or TV, yet they knew what was taking place. In simple terms, Clive, they where making money for their own WestPac Bank A/c (which many in America wonder where the money is banked), and their collective thoughts on the People = (I quote oft stated opine) = " WE don't mind, they don't matter, do as we say, not as we do".
New York City, Trump did more for that City than Nadler or Schumer - and I bet you are not aware of what he achieved, Jerry Nadler probably does not want you to know.
It is also interesting since the recent Presidential election how many of our Country Men/Women have cried out on the
" supposed increase in Import Tariffs to the US", sadly they missed the message - it is China that is going to face that
again - (last time 2017) and there are reasons for that.
My wish is that the next four Years see a change in America and in 2030 that we see JD Vance stand to become President, and along side him Tulsi Gabbard as his VP.
It is sad that American Law precludes " any back lash" against those who seek to undermine the American Constitution by any means that can be considered as underpinning the Constitution and the Rule of Law. If there was I would agree with you on your comment - " Don't be surprised if people like ..." but then there is extradition factors that can be considered!

So much to be done in the same vane in NZ but National are still like a possum in the headlights wondering how to avoid the red embedded truck still chugging along the road towards them.

" the result distorted by the archaic Electoral College mechanism."
The system brilliantly allows fair representation in the US. If it was done using the popular vote or something similar, the US would be governed by California and New York. Maybe you could add Florida now with everyone moving there recently.

The size of the victory is irrelevant to what happens next but suffice to say that it silences all those critics that have questioned the legitimacy of his past presidency and Biden’s pardoning of his son suggests Trump was right to claim the 2020 election was stolen.
Following the revelation from Zuckerberg that he was heavied to suppress the Biden laptop disclosures before the election, this pardoning suggests Trump would have easily won that election as well had the voters known of the Biden family corruption before they went to the polls.

Ewan McGregor said...

It's rather academic now, but again Clive Bibby has brought up the claim that Trump would have ‘easily won that 2020 election’ had the voters known of the Biden family corruption, revealed by the data on Hunter Biden’s laptop, which was stolen, incidentally, about five years ago. So, the voting public were kept ignorant of its contents, but Clive knows what was on it. He must do, otherwise he couldn’t make the claim. In any case, this suggests that Biden actually got the votes, whereas Trump has argued, (without the slightest credible evidence), that he won, but that his votes were stolen. (And for the record, I think Biden’s pardoning of his son was wrong. But it hardly compares to Trumps last act of pardoning, and I have no doubt what’s in store.)
I think that Clive’s column was just nonsense.

Clive Bibby said...

Ewan McGregor is a pathetic reminder of why the Democrats lost in such a big way. He is one of the remaining few “die hards” who just won’t accept that the evidence supporting the Biden family corruption on the Hunter Biden laptop was given to the FBI (not stolen) by the repair man when Hunter failed to pick it up. But the FBI colluded with the MSM to withhold the information that would have swung the 2020 election in Trump’s favour.
Zuckerberg admitted and regrets his part in the deception.
Don’t you read the newspapers Ewan. Even your beloved Washington Post printed the full Zuckerberg confession.
Those are the facts and it’s too late for Ewan to keep flogging the dead horse that he and other Trump haters backed for nine years during which time the people of America were subjected to some of the worst abuses of power in American history.
Time to crawl back under your rock Ewan .
It’s over!

I see Mr Bibby is beating the same old drum yet again. How do the moderators let him get away with repeating the same tired material time after time. The simple fact is that Trump is unfit for office. Any office. But particularly the leader of the free world.

For evidence in support of that proposition let’s just focus on his bizarre nominations for senior positions in the new administration. Gaetz has already stumbled and fallen. Hegseth will be next; even his mother says he’s damaged goods. Tulsi Gabbard is just plain dangerous as Trump’s pick to be the director of national intelligence because of her blatantly pro-Russian utterances (but who needs a security clearance – no-one else is getting one). Robert F. Kennedy Jr is just as dangerous, but in a different way, at the helm of the Department of Health and Human Services. Then there’s first buddy Musk, tasked with co-running a non-existent Department called DOGE (presumably pronounced dodgy) but one that appears intended to usurp the fiscal responsibilities allocated to Congress by the Constitution.

Not a lot of fitness for purpose in that lot. Just a willingness to bend the knee and the ability to look good on TV. Fox News of course. After all, twelve Fox News staff have already been shoulder tapped to come and help run the country. What could possibly go wrong? Trump will be swearing an oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, won’t he?

I see Mr Bibby has referenced the cavalry coming over the hill. He should be a little more careful in his choice of metaphors given the troubled history of cavalry charges. Is he thinking of the charge of the Light Brigade I wonder. Or perhaps Custer’s last stand. Or how about the French cavalry that were mowed down at Waterloo propping up that other come-back kid, Napoleon Bonapart. That didn’t end well for the cavalry or Boney.

So, looking on the bright side, to which island do you think Trump will be exiled when he meets his Waterloo. A fate that surely awaits him as soon as the American people discover his cavalrymen of choice don’t even know how to ride a horse, much less make it run in a straight line. It’s a pity those folk will have to suffer while they’re coming to their senses but as Mr Bibby endlessly points out, it was their choice. But hey, that’s democracy. They should enjoy it while it lasts.

I am " very pleased to see", what New Zealand Education has done for a Gentleman Farmer ( Ewan McGregor), who by not only this written opine, but past ones as well, posted under other articles on this website, how he has developed into a Socialist element, and has shown in his comment here, just
" how wrong he is".
For your info Ewan Hunter's laptop and the data therein was withheld as it contained what the Biden Family had been up to since " Dear Joe " entering politics. If you only knew what Joe B's brother, sister (later Hunter) had been up to to enhance both Joe's & the Biden family wealth , all done " at arm's length from Joe, due to his election to Congress", but releasing it would have confirmed the family money making enterprises, which would have included the " buy in" to Bursima in Ukraine, for which Hunter became a " Director" for which he had now background capabilities in that domain. Ask yourself, why suppress that data and who was to gain from that action?
All this duly documented in various articles and books - such as the following >
Profiles in Corruption - Peter Schweizer (2020)
Fallout - John Solomon (Ed. Just The News Washington) & Seamus Bruner (2020).
The last Ewan, written by a gentleman with first hand knowledge of not only of Congress & The Senate, but more those who passed thru the doors of The US Capitol.

More to the point, what has New Zealand Education done to produce such drivel as this?

I’m staggered by the impact our corrupt MSM’s mischievous interpretation continues to have on a section of our public. Trump Derangement Syndrome, Safe and Effective, Climate Emergency etc just to name a few.

Ewan McGregor said...

At last, Rob, I’ve got it. If only the mainstream readership had your foresight and intellectual integrity to see through the ‘corrupt MSM interpretation’ of world and national affairs. Why can’t the masses recognise the truth as you see it? What a bunch of gullible suckers we all are! This brings to mind the proud mother who gushed upon seeing her son in the marching-out parade from camp; “I was so proud of him. He as the only one in step!”

Our NZ media joined the US media mob in trying to discredit Trump, probably because he dared to criticize and shun woke journalists (which most are). When he was president previously the NZ Herald published almost daily articles with headlines suggesting various forms of ridicule. I read them for a while but came to realise almost none had any substance. Under a headline 'Trump Caught Doing....' the article would be of someone recounting their aunt's alleged claim that her neighbour suspected Trump of something based on what her friend had told her. Just became a waste of time reading them, and certainly reduced any trust I still had in mainstream media. And I'm no fan of Trump who appears to be a flawed individual, though that doesn't mean he can't be good at his job. We all have flaws and past blemishes; Trump's don't seem that bad. And who wants an unblemished person leading a country? That person would be like a different species from the rest of us and unlikely to understand our perspectives and needs.

Ewan McGregor said...

Hasn’t Anonymous read in the Herald of Trump’s compulsive sexual predation? I assume it has been, given that it was repeatedly reported in tens of thousands of MSM outlets around the world. This was not opinion. Trump was recorded as boasting it. The opinion was how the reader responded to the indisputable fact, but we had the knowledge of it via the ‘corrupt’ MSM. Then there was his sickening mockery while on the public platform of a physically retarded man. And the belittlement of John McCain for being captured when his aircraft was hit by a surface-to-air missile in Viet Nam. Imagine if a N Z politician so ridiculed Charles Upham, the only combat soldier ever to win two VCs, for being capture? Or Trump’s regard for those who fell in battle – “suckers”. Or the habitual lying? We draw our own opinions. Mine is that he is morally unqualified to be a public leader
Yes, none of us are perfect, but Trump is in a league of his own. The commentator seems to think that that blemished make for better leadership. Well, Trump’s got them in spade-fills. This should ensure Clive Bibby’s dream of him becoming the second Churchill.
Today, in the age of the internet, and dozens of T V channels, the global MSM is a massive instrument of information – or mis-information, and it is there, largely costless, at our fingertips. When we consult it, we bring our range of emotions; curiosity, prejudice, objectivity, gullibility, cynicism. Our conclusions are up to us. We don’t need precious people telling us what suckers we are for having a different view than them. It’s arrogance, really.

Clive Bibby said...

Yes Ewan
Everybody is entitled to their own opinion and mine is that Trump will show the Trump haters like yourself that it is up to each one of us to choose our leaders based on what they are capable of doing in a crisis. That’s what real leadership is about.
Unfortunately, the world we live in can’t afford a continuation of the morally corrupt Bidens and their henchmen. Nor can we wait until the squeaky clean individual you appear to crave offers him or herself to the people. They don’t exist. As far as the US is concerned, they have to make do with the lesser of two flawed candidates.
For my money Trump’s failings are no worse of those who have gone before - the Kennedy’s ( all three ) Johnson and Clinton were legendary womanisers who all cheated on their wives almost as if it was a requirement of the Presidency.
Yet, while those guys were all allowed to get off Scott free, Trump is publicly held to account for every misdemeanour, no matter how small.
I reckon that there is every chance that he will prove to be a better president than all of them put together.
And l base that claim on the tens of millions who currently think the same.
Only time will tell who is right but l wouldn’t bet the house on it being you.

Ewan McGregor said...

A womanize cheating on his wife is wrong, but it is not a crime. Sexual molestation is. Trump's been doing it all his adult life, at least until his election.
For years you have been calling me a "Trump hater", and I have told you I am not, and that I don't hate anyone. But what would I know about it. I must remember to consult you in future, Clive, if ever I am having trouble determining my inner-most sentiments.

Clive Bibby said...

You don’t need me to interpret your public persona Ewan.
I’m happy for you to be judged by your own words.
Your own files built up over the last 9 years since Trump first appeared on the political scene, provide all the evidence proving where your true sentiments lie.
To suggest you don’t hate anyone and expect rational people to believe it based on your written comments is a gross distortion of the facts.
But what do l know.

Ewan McGregor said...

“You don’t need me to interpret your public persona”. Then don’t! I’m sick of you publicly stating what my personal sentiments are, usually laced with claims of dishonesty on my part. People can draw their own conclusions from my comments, which in terms of this newsletter, remain on the public record, and always under my name, which is a claim you can’t make. Your last statement seems to be posed as a question. In response to this matter, it’s nothing.
I find Trump a thoroughly offensive and dangerous man. That’s my assessment. If you don’t, that’s yours.
