Ursula Edgington: No memory holes for the good or the bad

Some reflections as we near the end of another year of 1984 dystopia.

As 2024 draws to a close, it’s inevitable that we reflect. Although some progress has been made, we remain in limbo – stuck between two entirely different worlds. One minute, we feel inspired and uplifted at gatherings with diverse, freedom-loving groups. Next minute – jarringly – we’re confronted with someone seemingly stepping out of a Dr Who’s tardis, wearing a facemask: “I have to isolate -I just tested positive”.

So let’s get some evidence down, explaining some uncomfortable truths: what happened in NZ in the covid era? With some positive experiences too. Many people think ‘we must destroy’ any evidence, avoid accountability. But Margaret Anna Alice reminds us, #mistakeswerenotmade. We refuse to memory hole any of it.

To those people who think that ‘covid is in the past’, I wrote this post recently about how many employers are still, yes today, insisting their staff are ‘fully vaccinated’:

Three years on: workplace discrimination continues against thousands of New Zealanders

The good news is, although it’s not been announced publicly yet, Health New Zealand have finally announced, >2 years after the ‘vaccine’ mandates were ended, its Pre-Employment criteria of covid jabs is dropped. Health NZ also released it’s Q1 ‘Performance Report’ which contains some concerning details about pharmacies rolling out more jabs, and GPs incentives for jabbing babies, including this quote:

“GPs are paid $40 for every baby who receives their six-week immunisations, and an additional $40 for babies meeting high-needs criteria (Māori, Pacific, Community Services Card, quintile five and rural)” (pg 15)

So unethical policies continue, albeit slightly below the surface. And as I illustrated above, many of the job vacancies requiring covid jabs are within the commercial sector, so this policy change will make little difference for many job-seekers. Especially when the entities supposedly protecting us from discrimination and our rights to informed consent, are silent. As I reported here.

But the evidence of these illegal and unethical policies will not be memory-holed. These documents cannot be shredded into oblivion, no matter how hard some people try to censor the truth:

Shredded paper found in Egyptian State Security HQ, Cairo (Wikimedia CC).

My husband recently featured on Doc Malik Honest Health’s podcast, talking about his area of expertise, tyres and tyre safety. Before they got onto that topic, the first half of the conversation was about Michelin’s history, maps, restaurants with stars and good food (pod is behind a paywall, please subscribe to support independent voices):

What Justin didn’t mention during that conversation, was that during the height of the covid craziness he was a bit of a hero, doing his best to try to protect his staff from the pressures of jab mandates. Those pressures weren’t only from Government, but also from commerce and internally. Those awake to the tyranny were in a minority then (maybe we still are, in some areas?). Thankfully, mandates were not rolled out in his company, but as I’ve explained before, many of the corporates (unbeknown to their staff) were either already in secret incentivised agreements with Government, or buckled under intense propaganda – and I mean intense. It was literally 24/7 on every billboard, radio station, TV programme and magazine.

NZ Corporate Giants Fonterra, Mainfreight, Warehouse Group and Fisher & Paykel were in cahoots with Ardern Government about ‘No Jab, No Job’ policies.

But let’s not forget the measures taken by some to fight back against BigPharma’s capture and Government corruption. For instance, I’m very proud of Justin for quickly creating this poster (Dec 2021); insisting all branches nationwide displayed it:

Remember when only ‘essential workers’ could travel? The roads out of Auckland, for example, had roadblocks so NZ Police Nazi Officers could say “Papers Please!” to each driver. It was intimidating, to say the least. Then, in April 2020, the Government announced:

All driver licences, WoFs, CoFs, and some vehicle certifications, that expired on or after January 1, 2020 will be valid for up to six months from April 10, 2020. Transport Minister Phil Twyford has confirmed this morning that people with expired vehicle-related documentation resulting from the national lockdown need not worry about penalties until later this year.

“People shouldn’t have to worry about getting fined for having an expired document if driving to use essential services or as an essential worker during the Covid-19 alert level 4 lockdown,” he said. “That’s why we have provided an extension to give certainty to the public that they won’t be issued infringement notices for using their vehicles appropriately.

But hang on. Section 6 of the Land Transport Act (1998) had not changed? So even if vehicles didn’t have a current WoF (Warrant of Fitness, similar to (but many would say, less rigorous than) an MOT in the UK) they legally still had to be safe. How would people KNOW vehicles were safe, without a WoF?! Or at the very least, went to their nearest friendly garage to get their vehicle looked at?

The truth was, many people were scared out of their wits. The loud alarms were on their phones every time an arbitrary “Alert Level” changed; daily announcements from Jacinda Jackboot’s “Single Source of Truth” podium; subliminal messages that were all around us at that time. What was it really like for those who trusted their Government – genuinely believing Jacinda ‘cared’?

The insanity went on and on. Many Governmental staff didn’t understanding the law, or the rule changes. Now of course, we know it was all deliberate. The more confusing and illogical the instructions, the stronger some people believe the narrative.

Banner from the website at that time. Justin was trying to keep people safe, by encouraging them to visit their local garage if they needed to.
Other business, local and national also took positive action to fight medical apartheid. Eg a New Zealand Business Directory (now defunct) was set up, shared and updated on Telegram. This initiative meant that those not complying with the ‘Vaccine Pass’ policies that were ubiquitous in public and commercial businesses by 2021, could get their hair cut, washing their clothes or go to mass, eg:Screenshot: old Telegram site informing of compliant/dissident businesses.

Some local businesses issued open letters, like this inspiring example:

So as we enter year 5 of this silent war, THANK YOU! to all who spoke out. Even if you didn’t feel you could fight against the tyranny back then, there’s no doubt that each of us can do something now. And it starts by refusing to memory hole these events. Keep reminding people of what happened, how they behaved. Thank those who stood up against the injustice. Without some acknowledgement, there can be no forgiveness. Without forgiveness, society will remain divided and broken. Truth will win. You can Buy Me a Coffee to help others here. Thank you!

Never forget that Jacinda exempted 11,500 medical people in NZ not to have the covid jab !!
What did these people know that we didn't, and why were we not told about this at the time ???
Why did it take a OIA request to make this public ?
And has it ever been published in the MSM ?

You are still alive and well to bitch and moan Ursula. Millions around the world are not so lucky. Seems to me you are the one with a faulty memory.

This week in Waikanae Watch , Dec 26 Thursday , features an article entitled "more evidence that the covax shots did nothing to reduce mortality'. Worth reading as a counter to the ubiquitous and unsupportable claim the vaccines were safe and effective.

"Covid" ended and was quickly forgotten simply because it became too politically unpopular. That is the bottom line and it is extremely revealing.

If all of the policies of the preceding 2 or 3 years were actually warranted and were scientifically justified, then it wouldn't have mattered how unpopular they were. Science is not about consensus and popularity, after all. By contrast, but politics is about consensus and popularity.

The change was that the media-driven spell cast on the masses had worn off, so it all became unsustainable. Increasing numbers of people saw they were being lied to. Accordingly, the powers-that-be had to drop it, otherwise public anger would have increased to dangerous levels.

The game was up. So, they stopped talking about it 24/7 and let people go about their lives again. Meanwhile, the virus remained in the community (and still does to this day), people continued to get Covid (and still do) - what changed was 100% political, not medical.

We can deduce from the way it ended that because it ended for purely political reasons, it was begun for purely political reasons too.

The Waikanae Watch?? Oh dear. That's ground-breaking journalism if ever I saw it. I would like to say you can't make this stuff up. But of course, they do all the time don't they? Next, they will be saying vaccines didn't eradicate smallpox. Or polio (from the non-muslim world anyway). Or that it prevents measles and whooping cough and host of other infectious diseases. They will be saying it was sheer co-incidence that human life expectancy doubled in the last century - nothing to do with the evil vaccines - although I'm sure they will say it would have been even better if vaccines had not killed so many. Fun fact: US life expectancy has actually dropped as a direct result of the million or so US deaths caused by COVID. So they may as well keep injecting the bleach. It hastens their entitlement to a Darwin Award. Seriously though, Google the “Dunning-Kruger Effect” for an insight into their thinking, or should I say, lack of thinking.

I was a sucker. Believed in Jacinda’s rhetoric I would line up with the other sheep waiting for my next jab.. Slowly but surely the truth started to come out. I started to have health issues. Culminated in cancer. I was one of the lucky ones. I survived cancer. But the ongoing side effects can be difficult. My body is f****d . I only (if that’s the right word) had two jabs. I was warned about the booster from a health professional. DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN AGAIN

The article written on WW was by a statistical researcher and not dependent on the quality or lack of it at WW.

An article on Breaking Views , Oct 28 '24 by David Bell a public health physician and biotech. consultant and former medical officer and scientist at WHO, has an altogether different take on how vaccines have been promoted as tremendous life savers when in truth improvements in public health were the true factors for improvements.

Bell has statistics to prove this. Thank you Anonymous for raising this important issue since it seems to have been propaganda medical students have been taught since last century.

Another recent article you probably wouldn't wish to read is entitled 'Yale Scientists : Covid' Vaccines ' Remain in Body for Years , integrate into human DNA' . It has been suggested this article is being heavily censored by MSM.

Thank goodness for alternative media like WW, Breaking Views and Reality Check Radio and The Platform which present other viewpoints on so called 'Misinformation'.

Wow. It took nearly 3 hours for Gaynor to emerge from the woodwork to use his cherry-picked sources to rebut a century of scientific progress and trash the medical profession at the same time. And so far as Anon 4.08 is concerned, while I'm sorry his health is not good, has it occurred to him or her that the sun has come up every day and the more the sun came up the sicker he got. Got to be something going on there I reckon. But why stop with a sample of one? I bet if he really looked hard he would find quite a few other people got sick on a day the sun rose. Spooky! The Waikanae Watch needs to know about this.

I do believe it is a good idea to spend time countering an argument rather rushing in with with poorly formed arguments.

With statistics indicating people are losing confidence in the medical profession, since covid, I think it is constructive to analyse why that has happened

Medicine makes use of founding s from the natural sciences but the core of allopathic medicine is ideological largely centered on a business model developed by the Rockefeller s early last century whereby pharmaceutical companies made money from patented medications. Many medical people believe we now need to reconsider nutrition and non patented medicine approaches since enormous amounts of money are spent on the medical system with no corresponding improvement in health.

Anyone who uses the archaic term 'allopathic' is signalling that s/he is commenting from the ideological standpoint of homeopathy - a belief system based on the assumptions that what symptoms a huge dose of s substance will cause in a healthy individual will, in minuscule doses, cure diseases that exhibit those symptoms; and that the potency of a solution increases with dilution, providing vigorous shaking accompanies the dilutions.
Hence homeopathic solutions tend to be so dilute that routine chemical tests fail to identify the presence of the supposedly active ingredient - which may be outweighed by impurities that are present from the water and other substances added (homeopaths have a particular liking for lactose as a carrier).
I am no friend of Big Pharma but I will take a fistful of antibiotics when I have a nasty infection rather than trusting to such things as silica, sulphur or good old table salt diluted millions of times over.
Homeopathy got a lot of good press during the late 18th and into the 19th centuries because it was reported to have better cure rates for some serious illnesses than the gold standard of the day. It's quite possible that the homoepaths did do better not because they cured anyone but because they didn't kill their patients - the mainstays of mainstream medicine were heavy metals especially mercury in both elemental and ionic form!

Gaynor must have a very strange world view if s/he considers the doubling of human life expectancy in the last 150 years constitutes "no corresponding improvenent in health". How many fatal diseases do I have to list that can now be cured or have beeen eliminated by modern medical science? How much new knowledge about the human condition do I have to list as evidence that, not only has there been an unbelievable improvement in our health since early last century, it is unparalleled by anything ever experienced before in human history. If Mr Rockefeller had something to do with that, then good on him.

Allopathic medicine is the term used for Modern Medicine . Homeopathic medicine , is a system devised by a German Hanneman , a couple of centuries ago.. The other branch of Medicine is naturopathy which incorporates nutrition , herbs and food as medicine.

I , too would have nothing to do with homeopathy but I very seldom take antibiotics for infections, many of which are probably viral anyway. In Russia they prescribe garlic and VitC which I find very helpful personally, for the usual cold or flu. If I had a major accident I would , however appreciate the care IC Modern Medicine can give.

My concern is the neglect of nutrition and lifestyle factors in health and the ridiculing of the value of food and herbs in health care. From research about 40% of the population , particularly women and the high income take supplements and herbs. Many have gone through double blind and rigorous studies and proved effective.

Barend Vlaardingerbroek said...

"Allopathic" literally refers to a treatment regime at odds with 'homeopathy' which is based on the principle of "Similia similibus curantur" - "like is cured by like" ('allo' meaning 'other'). To say that it is a term used for modern medicine is utter nonsense.
Likewise, to claim that naturopathy is "THE (my emphasis) other branch of Medicine" suggests that the writer needs to do some catching up on terminology (a couple of hundred years should do it).

I am not interested in just winning arguements but I am curious about where you get your definitions from, Barend. Historical use of terms rather than common usage ?

Cambridge dictionary:allopathic- relating to traditional western medicine. Allopathic medicine is what most of us encounter when we go to the doctor.
Mirriam Webster - allopathic - a system of medical practice that emphasizes diagnosing and treating disease and the use of conventional evidence based therapeutic measures (such as drugs or surgery).
MUG :Allopathic medicine is the term used that defines science -based modern medicine -general term for what most people understand as Western Medicine.

I don't think Naturopathy is the only other system but one other of many thrapies.
Definition Mirriam Webster- Naturopathy -a system of treatment for disease that avoids drugs and surgery and emphasizes the use of natural agents and physical means.

I am not suggesting the use of any system exclusively but rather in a complementary way.

Anonymous -please read the Bell article before lashing out at me with ridicule. Bell supports some vaccinations for selected groups.

Hanging in there Gaynor.

I am waiting to hear that blood letting, spells, and alchemy are all critical science. I am waiting to hear that huge improvements in hygiene, diet, quality of housing, education on maintenance of personal well-being, the natural evolution of disease to the point where it can disappear, that old age kills - that all these and more have nothing to do with health.

Oops my last point may be too radical - the correct view no doubt is that diseases are always hovering around just waiting to kill us all unless we chemically attack them uncritically.

Barend Vlaardingerbroek said...

Always a good question, Gaynor - what does this word mean? And to whom?
The trouble with 'common usage' is that the average 'commoner' has little or no clue about the precise meaning of technical words. So when we have words such as 'paranoid' and 'evolution' being bandied about as part of everyday colloquial speech, we tend to find that their meanings differ very significantly from when 'experts' use them.
Not that this really applies to 'allopathic' which is an archaic term coined in 1810 by Samuel Hahnemann (founder of homeopathy) to distinguish it from 'homeopathy'. Wikipedia describes the term as "an archaic and derogatory label originally used by 19th-century homeopaths." The term didn't stick all that well among the general public and it is surprising to see it in dictionaries of everyday English as you would be waiting a very, very long time to hear the word uttered by 'ordinary' people - except where that person is a follower of homeopathy.
Of course in India you will hear the term a lot more as 'allopathic' is a common word in Indian English - India being a country with a thriving homeopathic medicine sector.
As an aside, the Cambridge definition you quote includes the word 'traditional'. This is a very ambiguous word to use in this context. Go back to the time of Nicholas Culpepper and we see 'traditional' western medicine in terms of herbs and astrology. At the time of Hahnemann, 'traditional' medicine involves the liberal use of heavy metals including lead and mercury in both elemental and ionic form.
So to answer your very pertinent question, when it comes to technical terms I tend to go on what people regarded as knowledgeable in that branch of learning mean when they use a word rather than its 'common' meaning.
