It is clear Te Pati Maori holds Parliament in contempt. I don’t just mean in the technical sense of breaching the rules of the House, but in the more general sense of behaving with contempt.
To publish the draft Privileges Committee report on the actions of three of their MPs on their social media feed is a provocation that should result in consequences.
Radio NZ reported:
Te Pāti Māori has apologised for posting a draft report from the privileges committee on Instagram, which breaches the rules of privilege.
It comes ahead of the committees meeting tonight to discuss complaints against three of the party’s MPs who conducted a haka in the House in November.
Co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer said the Instagram post was a mistake made “internally”, and the party was reviewing it.
“We were aware that an Instagram put up last night created a little bit of tension for the chair of the Privileges Committee.”
She said no MP, including the co-leaders, were responsible for that.
This is just mendacious bullshit. There is no way a staffer would publish a confidential privileged draft report from the Privileges Committee, without authorisation from an MP and/or the leadership. In fact no staff should even have had access to the report.
Te Pati Maori think the rules don’t apply to them. No matter what decision the Privileges Committee makes, they will claim it is racist and unfair.
The only thing that will result in a change of attitude, is serious consequences. They should not be rewarded for treating this as a giant joke and PR exercise.
I have no idea what the Privileges Committee has or will decide, but I hope it along the lines of a 28 day suspension for the three MPs involved.

The Maori party are the real RACISTS in New Zealand. These cowboy hat wearing clowns are following the He PuaPua agenda (curtsy of the traitor Ardern). Abolish the Maori seats and all other racist legislation.
"So what?
Parliament's just their stage - nothing more than a taxpayer-funded theatre where they grunt out primitive soundbites for the folks back home.
There's still loads of time left in the term for them to flip the bird in high-definition, to roaring applause from the peanut gallery."
I appreciate that wearing a summer hat inside, pyjama shirt and pink coat is, like the Mihaka salute, a form of whakapohane. But I note many of the ever larger neck ornaments are now worn horizontally. Presumably it does not represent maori submission. Can anyone explain. I am concerned that my jade green plastic extended shoehorn worn vertically is no longer appropriate.
Where, oh where, is corporal punishment when you need it?
More to the point, where is capital punishment?
Actually some good old fashioned punishment for childish beviour and bullying, like being sent to the naughty corner needs doing. They are past masters at bullying. Reckon a SHED in Parliament grounds, with TV, for the whole TPM needs to be set up on half pay... and There They Stay.... full stop. Debbie is well known in her home area as a destructive bully.
I agree totally, Nuku.
What is really overdue is to end all official recognition of ethnicity in all legislation.
With race/ethnicity no longer having official status, there could be NO more race-based seats or race-specific party in Parliament, NO more race-based wards in local government, NO more census questions about ethnicity, NO more co-governance, and NO more basis for claims of unending victimhood.
No society can survive while activists promote division and entitlement on the basis of race, (i.e. apartheid) and the only way to bring this to an end is by ceasing official recognition of and status for race/ethnicity.
The bigger disgrace is the time it has taken to deal with this nonsense and dish out the punishment, presuming of course that the P. Committee has the balls to rule as it should.
It has been said before, we need stocks set up outside parliament, the miscreants need to be popped in there and pelted with rotten fruit for a week or two before the hung drawn and quarter option is invoked.
TPM - could not give a damn. Why should they? Grovelling appeasement and avoidance is all around......For TPM, He Puapua is a done deal - not if but when.
And NZ sleep walks on.....
Send in the clowns

The increasing prominence of racial essentialism and ethnic nationalism in New Zealand politics—particularly as exemplified by the behavior and rhetoric of the tea party mirrors a broader international pattern, where grievances are weaponized into claims for power, not redress. The stakes of such a trend, however cloaked in cultural symbolism or historical appeal, are high. The consequences—if allowed to play out—are measurable, historical, and invariably tragic.
Nations are not held together by blood or ancestry, but by institutions, laws, and the idea of shared citizenship. When certain groups begin to assert not just cultural pride, but political supremacy based on ancestry—when waiata and haka become tools not of celebration, but of segregation—the line between inclusion and fragmentation begins to blur.
The invocation of language, ritual, or spiritual ceremony like karakia as obligatory or public fixtures in state institutions is often defended as cultural recognition. But the practical result is barefaced coercion—pressuring universal institutions to become the property of one group. Culture becomes less about enrichment and more about enforcement.
When tpm MPs speak not merely of equity, but of a “tino rangatiratanga” that demands separate constitutional status, separate legal systems, and separate representation, they are not asking for inclusion—they are asking for a new nation, built within the borders of an existing one and paid for not by themselves but long suffering taxpayers.
The danger, as history shows, is not just theoretical. Once race or ancestry becomes a legitimate basis for political power, the logic is endless. If some should rule because of their ancestors, why should others obey because of theirs? That is not reconciliation. That is Balkanization.
And here is the bitter irony: many of these ideas—ethnic ownership, collective guilt, inherited privilege—were once rightly condemned when used by colonial regimes.
Yet they now return, adorned in indigenous garb, but carrying the same poison—identity over individuality, entitlement over responsibility.
New Zealand has spent generations building one of the most peaceful, multiracial societies in the world. To reverse that in pursuit of moral theatre or political grievance is not progress.
It is regression—back to a tribalism that history has shown leads not to justice, but to ruin.
At the end of the day its not TPM thats the problem....its the nutcases who support them and vote for them and treat them as tho they are valid and sane. My ancestry is not less than theirs. My needs are not less than theirs. My dreams, my children, my health, my rights....they are and should be the same. BUT...I dont run around shoving that down everyones throats and demanding more all the time and crying like a big baby when it goes tits up. I just cant believe and will never understand why anyone takes them seriously.
Anon at 12;01 has summarised our situation very well. Sadly, most kiwis under 50 yrs of age will have no idea of what awaits them. TPM of course know exactly what they want, but have no clue of the downstream consequences. Both major parties are, or appear to be, pushing hard or subtly towards the TPM goal, knowing full well that the destruction of a nation will be the outcome. I wonder how any of these ‘elites’ manage to live with themselves?
Fully agree..... so glad I'm not too long for this world. Maybe you see things clearly at 80+
YES. MPs are bemused by the antics. Nothing in "manuals" to tell them what to do. So.......regardless of the limp-wristed Speaker and frenz, STOCKS and SHED need setting up on Parliament grounds, and... anyone out of order is sent there, pay docked. WE MEAN BUSINESS !!!
Well said, anon.
That they are wiling to chance a tangle with Collins is evidence of their audacious confidence that they are now calling the shots in NZ.
Have TPM submitted their election finances yet ?
Another two fingers waved at democracy.
And what is parliament or the police doing about it ?
If this was any of the coalition members all he'll would be breaking loose !!
If they can make national headlines about Gmail addresses, wow, failing to disclose election donations would be TVNZ and RNZ breaking news special 2 hour bulletins.
Anon at 3.57: indeed. There would be quivering eyebrows, pursed lips, bulging offended eyes, wagged fingers, teeth gnashing and tearing out of hair and polysyllabic hyperbolic outrage gushing out from John Campbell, maiki Sherman, mingi Forbes, Corin dann, Tova vs o’btien, jack tame and paddy plonker Gower if that was the case.
The racist maoris will get karma eventually, if they are not, they should be worried.
