Clive Bibby: At last some common sense based on what is best for all New Zealanders

As a farmer, and conservative voter, having survived two climate events that almost wiped us out, I am relieved and grateful that finally, our Government has the balls to at least partially abandon a policy that would have destroyed our ability to pay our way.

And for what!

For too long the world has been held to ransom by the IPCC activist scientists and woke political leaders in that “bastion of freedom” - the United Nations. Their mantra has proven to be a false commentary on the reasons behind global warming and it is therefore no surprise that supporters within governments who accepted the narrative blaming it all on human induced green house emissions are being forced to ditch policies they previously considered the saviour of mankind.

And the reasons for this mass exodus of believers is simply because, even if there is still a shred of evidence in support of the case for a changeover to clean energy, the current method of implementation is proving economically unsustainable - which in political terms within democracies means it is a no longer the winner it once was.

Here are the facts behind that statement.

While the nations responsible for most of the world’s green house gas emissions build coal fired power stations at breakneck speed, we here in Australasia continue to struggle from self imposed restrictions that threaten our own quality of life.

And meanwhile, the ridiculous fact that emerges from our years of senseless indoctrination is that all the green house gases combined down here in the South Pacific amount to less than 1% of total world carbon emissions. So, it will make almost no difference if we alone achieve the Paris agreement targets that are supposedly designed to save the human race from self inflicted extinction.

It is a sick joke and we are the dummies who have fallen for this false prophecy at the expense of our own economic survival.

How can I be sure that the “greenhouse gas” scientific argument is flawed to the extent that we should reject it before it destroys us all?

My answer is that I can’t be sure but using my own logic based on counter arguments as to the cause of Climate Change, l do believe enough evidence has emerged to suggest we have been sold a pup.

My own theory (scientifically based) is that the current bout of Climate Change is just part of a cyclical pattern that depends almost entirely on the distance between Planet Earth and the Sun’s solar flares. We have been here before and our current position is the cause of our global warming. It follows that as the Sun recedes, the Earth will cool, and the glaciers will return. And In the meantime, the current warming cycle is survivable!

However, it is incumbent on our politicians who have ultimate responsibility for our wellbeing to be like me and trust their own logic as to what is best for those of us who are and have been affected most by adherence to this nonsense.

It is madness to even think that this hoax has a shred of credibility left - if it ever did.

If I had my way, I would have cancelled the whole project years ago and let those who have the ability to do so - save us from ourselves.

Surely, not too much to ask but politicians, being what they are and too scared to admit they were wrong, will continue tinkering around the edges in a costly exercise in stupidly.

Not good enough.
