Paula Penfold was once a pretty credible journalist. Her journalistic investigation of Teina Pora’s wrongful conviction for rape and murder was admirable and contributed to the quashing of his conviction and a multimillion dollar settlement for Pora.

Unfortunately, something happened to her. It probably started in 2016 when Paula lost her job at TV3 and joined what has now become the Stuff(ed) media outlet. Then, around 2017, she and her former husband Mike McRoberts split up. Mike then became a born-again Māori and got himself in better physical shape - in order to avoid neck injuries from the huge tiki pendants that are now a permanent outward expression of his racial rebirth.

In 2022, Penfold produced her Fire and Fury documentary about the protest occupation of Parliament’s grounds. Fire and Fury was Labour Government funded - from the Public Interest Journalism Fund - to the tune of about $400,000.
As the saying goes, “[S]he who pays the Piper calls the Tune”, and Fire and Fury was no exception. The Payer was of course Jacinda Ardern. The tune Ardern called for was a powerful denunciation of the occupiers and everything they (actually - didn’t) stand for or did. And Piper Penfold dutifully played the tune, operating as a Labour Government conspiracy propagandist to characterize the indigenous protest as a bunch of Nazis run by sinister foreign agents and forces, including U.S. MAGA movement.
In her Crocumentary, Billfold gleefully sought comment from Kate Hannah, head of The Disinformation Project – an opaque, now-disbanded unit within Jacinda Ardern’s Prime Minister’s Department. And Hate Canner duly obliged, stating, “the role of women in protofascist and fascist movements has always been significant”.
When asked by Penfold whether Voices For Freedom (a libertarian group run by three New Zealand women) were “agents of fascism”, Hannah responded:
“All of the different groups that we see in NZ have features of fascist ideas, around power and control and then features of white or national identity ideas related to fascism’.
Hannah’s comments were accompanied by images of women marching in Nazi Germany. Predictably, New Zealand’s ideologically skewed Media Council rejected all complaints of political bias levelled at Fire and Fury.
Penfold’s latest desperate attempt to promote Woke ideology and undermine the current Government is a contrived piece about a member of the New Zealand Defence Force, Colonel Brendon Jull. You can read it here:

Fully five years ago, Jull sent a consensual image of himself to his romantic partner. The image (which I haven’t tried to view) was of Jull in army uniform, but also uniformly naked from the waist down. He’d used his private smart phone, in what was clearly intended as a private (possibly titillating) joke, between consenting adults. Made aware of the image in June 2022, the Defence Force investigated, sent Jull a letter admonishing him for what it considered to be an error of judgement on his part(s), and closed the matter.
In July 2024, Brendon Jull’s son Oliver penned a speech entitled “The Decline of Western Civilization”, intending to deliver his oratory in New Plymouth Boys’ High School’s speech competition. His school initially accepted Oliver’s speech but then banned it from the competition, because the school apparently decided that snowflake members of the audience might get “upset” and because Oliver’s oration would have been “right wing”.
New Zealand’s Free Speech Union and media outlet The Platform went into bat for Oliver, forcing Oliver’s censorious school to apologise to Oliver for its attack on his free speech and to commit itself to safeguarding its students’ freedoms of expression. Colonel Jull’s denuded nether region and Oliver’s ostracism would’ve both disappeared over the horizon if secret snitchers within NZ’s military – probably just envious of Jull’s rise (up the ranks) - hadn’t tipped off mock-pious Paula P about the Colonel’s pic. Penfold leapt into crusading, activist action, publishing her performative hit job on Jull Snr, trying to blow him up, or out of his water, or whatever…
Penfold is at pains, in her piece, to point out that “Stuff has verified the image” and then proceeds to produce a plethora of purported quotations from anonymous senior pimpers within the Defence Force, all trying to tell us that Jull is deplorable and should be drummed out of the Defence Force and criminally prosecuted.
Defence Minister Judith Collins was less aroused that Paula, responding to Stuff’s school girl-ish “exposé” of Col Jull with an assured, “I am comfortable that it was handled appropriately.”
But wait, Paula is also actively working behind the screens to take down the father and son – under her less-than-masterful Master Plan – with intergenerational guilt-by-association tactics.
Fully aware that Oliver is Brendon’s son and considering Oliver a proto-Nazi, she tipped off fellow Woke Travelers who this week began ringing talk-back, trying to tar Oliver with the “sins” of his father. Nasty stuff, but par for the course for Paula and her icky ilk.
And Paula’s motivations for her vindictive, misguided Nazi hunt are of course wider than simply trying to discredit the Jull Boys. She is wanting to deflect from the truly awful activities of a duo of Labour Luvies and appointees who are falling from grace:
- Former Police Commissioner Andrew Coster - still on indefinite paid leave from his Social Investment Agency CEO sinecure – get on with it, Public Service Commissioner Sir Brian Roche.
- Coster’s protégé Jevon McSkimming - narcissistic sex pest and viewer of pedophiliac and bestial pornography on his work computer – a man who came within a hair’s (hare’s?) breadth of succeeding Coster as Commissioner of Police.
Paula Penfold is a classic third/fourth wave feminist and Femwoketarian. But don’t get me wrong. She’s entitled to use her Stuffed little platform to have a crack at Brendon Jull, if she wants. He’s a grown man, well able to cope with Penford’s slings and arrows. But to rope Oliver Jull into her attempted double lynching demonstrates the classic Identitarian disregard for the welfare of young people, especially young white skinned boys.
Paula P doesn’t appear to have gone full Alison Mau, but MeToo# Misandry is all through Paula’s writing. For all practical purposes, Penfold appears to hate most men who aren’t Maori or beta males, or gay, or who don’t wear tikis.
Paul Penfold’s mock-prudishness when she comes to Colonel Jull is as Transparent as the day is long. If the pic had been of a Transgender Jull, Penfold would’ve celebrated it – even naked below the waterline - as another glorious Icebreaker in the Ocean of Bigotry.
