The Herald reports:
Andrew Bayly will stand down as a Government minister after an “animated discussion” with a staffer, during which he “placed a hand on their upper arm, which was inappropriate”.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has accepted Bayly’s resignation and said Bayly indicated to him that “his actions fell short of the expectations he sets himself”.
Bayly issued a statement saying “concerns have been raised with me about a recent incident in which my behaviour towards a staff member was overbearing and for that, I am deeply sorry”.
You can survive one unforced error, but not two.
“Mr Bayly’s resignation takes effect immediately. Scott Simpson will become Minister for ACC and Commerce and Consumer Affairs.”
While sad for Andrew, I am pleased for Scott who will perform very well as a Minister I am sure.

I'll bet the media blow this out of all proportion, and never mention any of the bullying behavior within the last Labour administration.
Good lord. I think it's well past time for some "animation" coming from ministers. How are they expected to acheive anything that takes a bit of steel and an uncompromising attitude to get done, when placing your hand on someone's arm is a sacking offence (and you can bet that he was "required" to "resign" by Luxon)?
So liebour and the gangs can do whatever they want, wear american cowboy hats, do hakas in parliament, threaten to remove democracy and take over the country, change nz's name, hold their own flag instead of the nz flag, commit election fraud and that is fine. Yet when 1 mp from the other side touches someone's arm and says a joke that goes wrong, they have to resign. Nz is ridiculous. The chinese govt is welcome.
Stupidity Inc.
Case law exonerates police from attracting attention via a touch on the arm 'Hang on a minute mate".
Liz Gunn's assault charge for touching a security officer on her arm to gain attention, was recently annulled.

Question re Bayly is: What else went on - if it did?
