Sir Bob Jones: The way we are

I’ve come to the conclusion that humanity can be divided into two categories.

First and by far the largest group are those who largely accept the world as they find it. They might occasionally grumble about some things but will do absolutely nothing about them.

The other category are the minority who constantly think about the future, try and anticipate things the way they may be so as to dodge the hypothetical bullets, but on a more positive note, when thinking about the future, look for changes that are exploitable.

This category is the section of society that saw our distant ancestors drop from the trees and have been responsible for all that’s good in our history, but equally all that’s bad, notably warfare.

The futurists however, bear a burden. That is that the future never actually comes as by definition, it’s always ahead of one.

So they live in a permanent state of activism, forever committed to change.

Still, on balance, their lives are immensely more interesting than the cabbage-like majority’s.
