Key characteristics of Gaslighting include:
- Denial of facts - insisting something didn’t happen or happened differently, contrary to the evidence
- Twisting reality - distorting events or conversations to make victims question their perceptions
- Undermining confidence – playing mind games intended to cause victims to doubt their judgment and memories, and even their sanity.
Gatsby’s entire life revolves around a delusion of rekindling his romance with a former paramour, Daisy. He imagines a perfect past that can be recreated, ignoring the reality that the past was not as he remembers it, and time and circumstances have changed. Gatsby’s constructed persona is an illusion that masks his own dubious origins and shady dealings.
Gatsby’s delusion and his illusion-making precipitate his downfall and demise…in the same way that the Gaslit delusion that a Utopian pre-colonial Maori society can and should be resurrected threatens to divide and destroy the New Zealand nation.
New Zealand has reached an extreme level of public Gaslighting, perpetrated principally by cultural elites, public and local government bureaucracies, the public education system and politically biased media channels – often acting in concert.
Such is the scale and level of co-ordination involved in some of Wokery’s Gaslights that they can justifiably be termed “psyops”. A psyop (short for psychological operation) is a planned, psychological tactic designed to sway the emotions, beliefs, attitudes, or behaviours of a target audience - often for ideological or political purposes.

Racial Division Is Unity
The mantra that New Zealanders must be categorised and divided between those with Maori ancestors and those without, with differential civil rights and comprising separate nations, and that such categorisation could possibly be unifying, is a pervasive Gaslight. The Race activists, separatists and hustlers try to make us believe that Apartheid Aotearoa will be eternally unifying.
At the heart of New Zealand’s Great Race Gaslight is the ahistorical assertion that Maori signatories did not in fact seek, and sign up for, a single unitary form of Government for all New Zealanders. This is despite the English language version of the Treaty of Waitangi ceding “all the rights and powers of sovereignty” to the Crown, and the Maori language version ceding “kawanatanga katoa” (complete governance). The contemporary origin of this bizarre invention is the Waitangi Tribunal’s 2014 report on the Te Paparahi o Te Raki Inquiry in which the Tribunal simply asserted, without a scrap of supporting evidence, “The rangatira who signed Te Tiriti o Waitangi in February 1840 did not cede their sovereignty to Britain”.
The most recent example of this warped racialisation is Lady Tureiti Moxon’s complaint to the United Nations that “Aotearoa” is, you guessed it…systemically racist. On 25 November, Moxon personally presented her 42-page complaint, in Geneva to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
Dame Moxon is complaining in her capacity as Director of Te Kōhao Health and Chair of the National Urban Māori Authority (NUMA), government-funded organisations that appear to be funding Moxon’s complaint. The Lady is cannibalising the hand that feeds her.
Tureiti Moxon is only a “Lady” because she’s married to Sir David Moxon, a prominent Pakeha God-Squadder. Given she didn’t earn it, and the Lady’s manifest hatred of New Zealand and Western Civilization in general, she should do the decent thing and ditch her undeserved title. Moxon’s Maori ancestry has proved a more-than-adequate meal ticket for her.
Biased Media Is Neutral
Radio New Zealand and TVNZ both strenuously deny the stark reality that they are blatantly biased in favour of Leftie Identitarian causes. Each has commissioned a bogus “review” finding – surprise, surprise – no bias. I’ve covered these Gaslights in previous Substacks.
The most recent examples of RNZ/TVNZ deliberate bias and Gaslighting that have come to light are egregious instances of them concocting spliced video of US President Trump speaking on 6 January 2021, doctored to mislead the audience into thinking that Trump encouraged the invasion of Congress that occurred on that day (which he didn’t). RNZ/TVNZ have then doubled down on the Gaslighting, claiming that their spliced Trump video footage was nothing more than innocent mistake. It remains to be seen whether the Trump administration will take legal action against RNZ and TVNZ, in the same way as it is suing the BBC for equivalent Gas-splicing.
Money Grows on Trees
Wokery comes with its own bonkers “economics”. Under Wokenomics, New Zealand can de-industrialise, stop farming, plant its productive land in pine trees, stop searching for new sources of energy, spurn foreign capital, and yet still maintain a world-class standard of living for its citizens.
Under Gaslight Economics, a prosperous future beckons simply by printing money and racking up more national debt (the Orr/Robertson School of Economics), plus plundering rich people. But money does not grow on trees and wealthy New Zealanders, faced with the hordes coveting the fruits of the rich bastards’ endeavours, will simply quit New Zealand’s picturesque shores for greener, more welcoming, pastures.
Men Can Become Women, and Women Men
Believe it (or not), I’m completely liberal when it comes to adults feigning to be the opposite sex, and even – provided they’re otherwise of sound mind – receiving sex hormones and surgeries (at their own expense) to make their sex swap magic trick more believable.
What’s unacceptable and untenable is the Great Genome Gaslight that a biological male (XY chromosomes) can literally turn himself into a biological female (XX chromosomes), and vice versa. That just aint happening – can’t happen - folks. It’s a myth that leads to women getting boxed to a pulp, by a gold medal man at the Olympics.
And I don’t get the dudes-with-beards-in-dresses thing. That’s not a genuine attempt to come across as a woman. I suspect these types are heterosexual, attention seeking, autogynephilic men, who are a clear threat in women-only places (toilets, changing rooms, women’s refuges and the like).
And the evidence is mounting up against using puberty blockers as a “treatment” for children and adolescents with “gender dysphoria.” On 19 November 2025, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reported on its scientific, apolitical peer reviewed study on sex-rejecting medical procedures. The HHS’s report finds that the harms from sex-rejecting procedures - including puberty blockers - are significant, long term, and too often ignored or inadequately tracked.
In particular, the HHS found that puberty blockers, by blocking sex hormone production (critical to bone mineralisation during adolescence) can lead to osteoporosis and bone fractures. The HHS also found that puberty blockers influence brain development during puberty and may thereby have adverse cognitive effects, and that continued use prevents normal sexual development and reduces fertility.
Climate Change Catastrophisation, Aotearoa-Style
Yesterday, New Zealand’s muddling Metservice issued and then withdrew “heat alert” warnings. It’s all part of Metservice’s prolonged pattern of climate alarmism and general nanny-Stateism.
I’m inclined to suspect that, all else being equal, the higher the levels of carbon dioxide in Earth’s atmosphere, the warmer the atmosphere becomes.
Woketearoa’s Great Gaslights in relation to climate change are that New Zealand can do something about Earth’s climate (it absolutely can’t) and that climate change won’t bring countervailing benefits to New Zealand.
Assuming human-made climate change is a significant phenomenon, New Zealand will probably be a net beneficiary. Growing seasons will be longer, increased atmospheric CO2 will boost plant and grass growth, there’ll be more rain and fewer droughts and New Zealand will gain an export advantage over other countries adversely affected.
So let’s cheer up, and ignore Woketearoa’s Gaslighting. In the real world, it’s not all doom and gloom. In fact, with rejuvenated attachment to reality and hard headed pragmatism, the future for New Zealanders looks genuinely quite bright.
