Chris Hipkins has been exposed for the fraud he is.
Having made far too much of the PREFU and all the fiscal magic it would contain, he cornered himself.
He snookered himself.
By setting the PREFU release date as the date of revelation, he was always going to have to somehow explain that what we saw yesterday in no way was ever going to reveal the source of the $18 billion they have promised.
Much smaller irony in the PREFU was the adjusted forecasts for housing. His projections around the CGT are 3%.
It's 3% after July next year, despite the fact the money is already spent on doctors visits and the like.
Forecasts have now created real doubt as to what sort of, if any, real return you are going to get from the sector.
But that’s not his biggest headache. His biggest headache is he has learned nothing about taking our money and wasting it.
Pay equity is a terrific promise to make when you don’t hold any real level of accountability. And so it was off to PREFU day.
As we said yesterday, for the Government it was a report card on fiscal credibility and Willis was right; it was a decent result.
We are tracking, all things considered, pretty well.
But a lot of the forward projections were premised on the idea that spending going forward was going to remain tight.
$18 billion more isn't tight and $13 billion for pay equity is not doable.
So for Hipkins yesterday was a massive credibility issue, as he shot himself in the foot and announced that he won't be telling us at all how he is paying for this.
There will be a fiscal plan but not a line item. A line item is a number, like how much does it cost and where is the money.
He's not telling us.
You know why? Because he's a fraud, an economic vandal and he thinks you're stupid. Do you want to vote for that?
Go for it. But he is the same bloke who locked you down, didn’t turn up to the Covid inquiry, and part of the same robber baron cabal that virtually ran us broke, and now he's back to play you for a sucker one more time.
Don’t say you weren't warned.

So we're looking at a government of PM Chippie, finance minister Chloe and someone from TPM controlling payments to Maori. What could go wrong? With such a future, PREFU predictions become completely irrelevant.
Yes but Mike, he's smarter than we give him credit for. Because he knows we are in fact stupid. Or at least the vast majority of our fellow travellers are. He just has to tell them there will be "pay equity" (aka redistribution of wealth from taxpayers to females, on spurious grounds) and they will believe it. They aren't remotely interested in how it will be paid for.
He's also the one that oversaw the further decline in our children's education; oversaw the crime wave; and grossly mishandled the Covid vax procurement and ordered it to be given to those it could harm. 'Incompetent' is being too kind and to not show when accountability was pivotal, puts him beyond redemption. But there are always some dyed-in-the-wool suckers that can't help falling for the belief in getting 'something for nothing' - which is always at someone else's expense.
Economic vandal is very true.
It is said that the problem with Socialism is that eventually it runs out of other people’s money.
We’re about to reach that point.
Are we really not stupid?
16 percent want to vote Green. I couldn’t tell you one of their policies.
This election is so dull, I’m thinking of sticking my head in a mincer for entertainment.
But back to the more mundane stuff, Chippy.
A complete loser, many times over, yet there he is hanging on, and 29 percent or thereabouts are going to vote for that loser plus the 16 percent Green dunderheads and we are screwed.
Why is this country filled with political halfwits??
FROM MODERATOR
The prefix "half" in the last word was substituted for one beginning with 'f' .
Do not count on me becoming your editor. Being Friday, I'm in a tolerably good mood today........
Anon 7.47am is right, almost 50% of the electorate will vote for government handouts because they think they won’t be paying for them. (And don’t lecture them about government borrowing, bond yields and inflation because they can’t join those dots)
Then It only needs few more people “whose daddy was down the mine so I always vote Labour’ or “if I vote Green the skink will be saved” and they’re over the line and the country teeters over the abyss.
In a world of pay equity a post meno woman should be as capable at basketball as Michael Jordan and get pay the same….pay equity is communism plain and simple!
If someone with my skill and experience is paid the same as me then I have failed to prove my worth- a 20 something yr old in my profession is worth a fraction of what I’m worth which is why they’re my assistant and not my boss.
I didn’t go into teaching because it doesn’t pay well like wise I didn’t become a bum wiper in the old folks home. Important jobs but plenty of people can fill them. Pay equity is communism it’s a disgraceful symptom of modern politics
I note the moderator clipped the ear of "unknown 2:49" fair enough.
I wonder why in this open enlightened age our election has to be by secret ballot.
Yes I am ok with your right to without duress or pressure being able to enter the booth alone , vote , seal and deposit your choice(s) of party or candidate .
But that is where secrecy should end .
After November 7th election day through the courts or at least court process the idiots who even consider Labour, Greens and TPM to be relevant should be named and shamed .
