Pee Kay: Integrity was very important back in the day!
Labels: Integrity, Pee Kay, Society decline, SocratesSocrates (c. 470–399 BC) the foundational Classical Greek philosopher who spent his life in Athens questioning its citizens about their ethics and their virtue. He didn’t write anything down, but he did make a lot of powerful enemies by teaching the city’s youth to question authority.
Eventually, the government/Athens had enough. At age 71, he was dragged to court on two serious charges: disrespecting the local gods and corrupting the youth.

Pee Kay: The Ultimate Political Irony
Labels: Democracy, He Puapua, Maori sovereignty, Opportunity Party (TOP), Pee Kay, Trojan horseThe Quiet Return of He Puapua inside The Opportunity Party
We all know the dangers and long-term implications for democracy should the radical proposals within He Puapua gain an even stronger foothold in our country’s governance structures. Yet, many New Zealanders remain completely unaware of how close this ideology is to entering Parliament through parties claiming to be centrist or pragmatic.
Let’s look at exactly what is being proposed.

Pee Kay: Pork Barrel Politics
Labels: Maori ownership of public energy resources, Pee Kay, Pork Barrel Politics, Pre-election handout, Shane JonesIs this not typical, unvarnished pork barrel politics from New Zealand First, yet again cutting up the taxpayer pie to buy regional relevance just in time for the election?
Now, surely this will be seen as a remarkably convenient pre-election handout?
Regional Development Minister Shane Jones stands on a podium somewhere and begins tossing millions of taxpayers dollars at a pair of “exploration” projects under the guise of addressing “…gaps in geothermal knowledge…”.
Gaps in knowledge? Let’s be real Shane!

Pee Kay: The Maorification Virus - Part 2
Labels: decolonisation, Democracy, Ethnocracy, Maorification, Pee Kay, Satire, TikangaA Satirical look at New Zealand Politics, 2017 – 2026
Can Democracy Be Saved
Though St Christo promised us remedies for the pathogen called the “Maorification” virus, would be found and administered in 2023, democracy’s ardent could see there was little doubt St Christo and Potaka the Provider, his specially selected agent, were actually and actively delivering more virus spores throughout the country.
Putting Potaka the Providor to great use, more of the virus was distributed via financial largess, empowerment and dispensed control. Agents of the state from public service, education, judiciary and academia willingly volunteered and were weaponised with the “Maorification” virus and Democracy was subjected to an ever wider attack!

Pee Kay: The Maorification Virus
Labels: Democracy, Maorification virus, NZ Politics, Pee Kay, SatireA Satirical look at New Zealand Politics, 2017 – 2026
Part 1 Who will save Democracy?
On 26th October, 2017 a hitherto unheard-of virus entered New Zealand.
Democracy didn’t know it but it was to become the key target of this previously obscure and outlandish contagion.
By mid to late 2018 it was becoming obvious to many that Democracy was definitely the target of the virus and, worse still, Democracy had actually been infected.

Pee Kay: Claire Charters Calls Democracy a “Fairy Tale”
Labels: Claire Charters, He Puapua Report, Maori sovereignty, Pee KayMeet Claire Charters an Auckland University law professor who has spent years climbing the ranks of the academic and bureaucratic elite.
She has bounced from an advisor to the President of the UN General Assembly to a stint as an “Indigenous Governance adviser” for the Human Rights Commission. But don’t let the fancy titles fool you—Charters has built her career on ideas that many everyday New Zealanders find completely out of touch.

Pee Kay: We Get the Government We Deserve
Labels: Pee Kay, Perfect candidates don't exist, Voting a pragmatic decisionCatching up with old friend Bruce recently and naturally, the conversation turned to politics but more specifically, the abysmal standards of our political leaders. Realising we weren’t going to fix the country, Bruce wrapped up the discussion with a grim, undeniable truth: “Sadly, we will get the government we deserve.”
Yes, we’ve all heard that phrase “we get the government we deserve.” While it’s often mistakenly credited to Thomas Jefferson, it actually belongs to the 19th-century French philosopher Joseph de Maistre, who bluntly penned in 1811 that “every nation has the government it deserves.”

Pee Kay: Is This the Real Story Behind the Greens’ $6 Billion Job Gamble
Labels: Jobs creation, Pee Kay, The GreensFrom the Greens website –
“The Green Party has today released its economic development plan to rebuild Aotearoa New Zealand and create 284,000 jobs over the next four years.”
“The Greens are serious about the economy. We will drive it to meet the needs of New Zealanders. Our plan will create 284,000 jobs, lower the cost of living and ensure we’re all happier, healthier and safer,” says Green Party Co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick.

Pee Kay: The Ice That Wouldn’t Melt!
Labels: Al Gore, Global Warming, Ice caps, Pee Kay, The ArcticPredictions of an Ice-Free Arctic Have Defied Expectations
In his 2006 documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, the oscar-winning documentary about former vice president Al Gore’s campaign to educate people about climate change, Gore predicted that “Global Warming” would cause severe and accelerated climate disruptions, including rising global temperatures, melting glaciers, stronger hurricanes, and an ice-free Arctic summer within decades.

Pee Kay: Tertiary Education, an Expensive Political Battleground.
Labels: Pee Kay, Student debtStudent Debt: Crown Asset or Financial Fiction?
Last week it was supermarkets, this week it is Student debt/University Fees! It seems there is absolutely no systemic crisis that our politicians can’t fix with a sweet, shiny new election campaign spreadsheet tweak.
Last week political parties all painted supermarkets as the whipping boy and took to flailing them with gusto. This week they are scattering lollies in front of a very receptive audience who, no doubt, will be very happy to trade debt for vote!
Last Sunday Chris Hipkins unveiled Labours plan new election proposal on student fees during the Labour Party’s official election campaign launch.

Pee Kay: Smoke, Mirrors, and Supermarkets
Labels: Cost of Living, Pee Kay, Populism, Power companies, SupermarketsNational Side-steps the Economic Drivers They Actually Control
Right now, National is playing a masterful game of economic misdirection. While Chris Luxon and Nicola Willis demand accountability from supermarket executives, National actively side-steps the massive economic drivers they actually control. It’s a convenient distraction; if the public is busy blaming the price of cheese, nobody asks why the governments own strategy is completely failing.
New Zealand’s grocery sector, well the locally owned ones, have been in the cross hairs of a number of our political parties over the last few weeks.

Pee Kay: A vote for TOP is a vote for even more division!
Labels: He Puapua, Land tax, Maori land tax exemption, Maori Sovereignty 2040, Pee Kay, Qiulae Wong, Racial divisionIn this video (below) Whangarei Tim clearly demonstrates why voters should think twice before ticking TOP on their ballot paper. At the heart of TOP’s election campaign is their highly contentious Land Tax. A policy that threatens to push asset-rich but cash-poor New Zealanders straight down “Struggle Street” under the weight of crushing new tax bills.

Pee Kay: National… the “Party of Business”
Labels: Leftist, National Party, Pee KayChris Luxon and Nicola Willis seem to have got their hands on a gun and have been happily shooting themselves in the foot!
The National Party’s latest election pitch, a drastic proposal to forcibly sever Pak’nSave from New World smacks of political desperation rather than sound economic strategy. Christopher Luxon and Nicola Willis have championed a policy that raises far more troubling questions than it answers.

Pee Kay: The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far From The Tree
Labels: Maori activist family, Pee Kay, Tamihere dynastyThis old adage most certainly applies when discussing Maori activist “usual suspects” and Maori politics.
The apple not falling far from the tree is more than just a comment on individual personalities. It is a lens through which we observe the construction of a power base, the propagation of ideology culminating in the transfer of power. It can also be said that traits, be they a drive for self-sufficiency, for power and wealth or a penchant for controversy, they are inherited as surely as DNA is inherited.

Pee Kay: Where should the ambulance be placed?
Labels: Marae upgrades, More tax, Pee Kay, Provincial Growth Fund (PGF), Race-based funding, Regional Infrastructure Fund (RIF), Shane Jones, Winston PetersAnd Why the Taxpayer is Left at the Bottom of the Cliff
A recent letter to the editor in the NZ Herald read – “…when are we going to wake up as a nation and realise that we need more tax income to pay for all the health, education and infrastructure that the country needs attending to?
Adding – “Future generations will be burdened with debt that will need to be repaid unless we are brave enough to change our tax structure to meet our growing needs”
So here we have another economic visionary gracing the letters to the editor page, imploring the state to extract even more cash from our already empty wallets. Because obviously to them, the only reason New Zealand’s hospitals are crumbling and our roads resemble the surface of the moon is that the government simply doesn’t have enough of our hard earned tax dollars to fritter away! The prevailing wisdom from these bleeding hearts is always the same; if we just tax our way to prosperity, future generations will magically inherit a debt-free utopia.

Pee Kay: KiwiMart
Labels: Pee Kay, Supermarket Industry restructuring policies, The GreensChloe and Marama have placed our supermarket businesses firmly in the spotlight recently.
This video below is about US supermarket but the message is still relevant for NZ.
The compulsory purchasing of 120 NZ supermarkets has to be one of the Greens most nonsensical policy ever!

Pee Kay: Shoot for the Stars and Land on a Mountain
Labels: Bankrolling tribal legal fees, Extortion pays, Pee Kay, Port of Tauranga, The Beehive's spineless silence, Tribal elitesBack in June I wrote an article titled “Consultants or Extortionists” – https://nominister.wordpress.com/2026/06/15/consultants-or-extortionists/ where the central theme was that a Tauranga tribe was demanding $450 million to withdraw objections to the Port of Tauranga’s expansion plans.
But now the Stella Passage expansion has been approved under the Fast track Approvals Act, subject to strengthened conditions to address cultural impacts???

Pee Kay: November 7th, 2026
Labels: Election 2026, Pee KayWhy This Election is No Longer Business as Usual. This could be democracy’s “last chance saloon!”
New Zealand is standing on the edge of a constitutional cliff having been quietly herded there by powerful activists, ill-intentioned politicians and a worrying large herd of apathetic “sheeple”. We, the voting public, are being actively duped into believing this November’s election is just business as usual.
It isn’t.
