Mike Hosking: Morrison has it right on Australia's climate policy

On a day when yet again we were digesting a report into how buggered the earth is, driven, they claim, by climate madness.

And on the day we were working out how come we didn’t have any power on a cold day.

Across the ditch, Scotty from Marketing was once again refusing to commit to zero carbon by 2050.

And in his stance is the Realist vs the Theorist.

We, of course, are part of the theorist cabal.

Barry Soper: Highly orchestrated trans-Tasman meeting had leaders walking on eggshells

They're Scott and Jenny to our Prime Minister and our first couple are Jacinda and Clark to their Prime Minister.

Never since the days of sleepovers by John Key at the Sydney mansion of Malcolm Turnbull has there been such trans-Tasman bonhomie.

To perhaps emphasise the point, Ardern even publicly flirted with her Aussie counterpart, saying to cocktail clinkers that she was sure he wouldn't mind being called in public what she calls him in private.

In fact, she admitted during the Covid crisis she called him more than she called her mother.

Clive Bibby: Judged by Deeds Not Words

Quoting scripture isn’t something l dabble in mainly because l lay myself open to criticism as a religious bigot although l do acknowledge a personal faith that is part of who l am. I try not to impose my beliefs on others but am happy to share them.

Having said that, this article is based on one quote that l believe is appropriate in the circumstances. I must admit that l needed to research the line and just as well because it isn’t the one l thought l knew.

Anyway, it is from Mathew chapter 7, verse 20: “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

Barry Soper: Scott Morrison seems determined to turn NZ into a penal colony

If you've ever wondered whether the commonly held belief that Australia's Prime Minister Scott Morrison was responsible for the slogan 100% Pure New Zealand, then forget it.

ScoMo did work for Tourism New Zealand in the late 90s when the slogan was conceived and has claimed credit for it but those of us who were around at the time knew it came from those whose job it was dream up slogans of that sort,  M&C Saatchi.

ScoMo was brought to Wellington by the former dark ops Tourism Minister Murray McCully but ended his contract a year early after a whispering campaign with his political boss got rid of the three top men at the organisation.
