British Gas boss warns of gas storage shortage
The boss of British Gas’s owner has warned the UK is facing the risk of gas shortages this winter as stockpiles fall. “We have almost no gas in storage in the UK for the coming winter, and this is a huge concern as energy security is national security.” The low storage levels leave Britain more open to paying higher prices for shipments of energy.
Ofgem has increased the price cap by 4%
Energy bills for households in Britain are set to rise to the highest level in three years from October, putting millions of people under further financial strain as colder weather sets in. Analysts predict a further 9 per cent increase to the price cap in the new year.
Household energy bills to soar by £260 on Net Zero costs
Household electricity bills will increase by more than £260 over the next decade because of mounting net zero costs, a major consulting firm has warned. High prices are driving down electricity consumption, making renewable subsidies and grid upgrades an increasing proportion of power bills. Separate findings show Britain’s net zero push has left manufacturers paying around four times more for electricity than their US rivals.

Chinese wind turbine manufacturers target Europe
The European chief executive of Ming Yang, one of China’s largest wind turbine manufacturers, says the company is in Europe for the long haul — despite its turbines being shut out of the UK’s offshore market on national security grounds. Ming Yang has forged a tie-up with Octopus Energy, the UK’s largest household energy supplier, exploring plans to install onshore turbines in Britain.
Norway to drill in the Arctic
Norway will continue developing its oil and gas resources in the Barents Sea regardless of the European Union's support for a moratorium on Arctic drilling, and no longer sees itself as Europe's "green battery", says their Energy Minister. Norway has become Europe's largest supplier of natural gas, meeting around 30% of gas demand of both the European Union and Britain.
