Volodymyr Zelensky has said he is ready to seek peace under Donald Trump’s “strong leadership” and he “regrets” his White House row – a day after the US President halted military aid to Ukraine. The Mail has more.

Bob Edlin: Infamy in the White House – and the shredding of Atlantic Charter ideals

A Day of American Infamy is the headline above a New York Times column by Bret Stephens, who harked back to August 1941, about four months before the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

US President Franklin Roosevelt met with British Prime Minister Winston Churchill aboard warships in Newfoundland’s Placentia Bay and agreed to the Atlantic Charter, a joint declaration by the world’s leading democratic powers on “common principles” for a postwar world.

Josie Pagani: Condemn today’s colonisers as well as those from the past

Like predictions, moral clarity about the past is simpler.

In real time, stories get muddled and the narrative of history has not emerged from a jumble of storylines.

Rawiri Waititi, Te Pāti Māori co-leader, called the British royal family “war criminals” last week, and demanded that King Charles III pay for his family's colonising past.

Apologies and reparation for past crimes matter. But if we are going to have moral clarity about colonisation in history then we must have clarity about it in the present.

Oliver Hartwich: The far-right European pawns in Putin's game

It was a sight to behold. Last week, members of the far-right Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) interrupted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech at the Austrian Parliament.

Brendan O'Neill: The two Zelenskys

Zelensky is neither saint nor sinner, but a leader trying to do his best.

Choose your Zelensky. He can be either saint or sinner. Either valiant repairer of the liberal international order or compliant puppet of the WEF. Either a one-man defender of liberal democracy or a stooge of nefarious globalists. These are the only two Zelenskys. There’s no in-between. He’s either a Guardian editorial made dashing flesh or the willing jester of Davos Man. Take your pick.

Geoffrey Miller: What to expect from Volodymyr Zelensky’s address to the New Zealand Parliament

As New Zealand’s foreign policy year draws to a close, it seems fitting that Volodymyr Zelensky will have the final word.

Ukraine’s President is scheduled to address the New Zealand Parliament in Wellington by video link early on Wednesday morning, local time.

New Zealand is something of a latecomer when it comes to inviting Zelensky to speak to its legislature in 2022.
