David Farrar: Pathetic

The Herald reports:

Officials warned the Government that its move to put the English name before the Māori name in its official branding could cause “material harm” to the Crown-Māori relationship.

The branding was officially updated in May, putting “New Zealand Government” before “Te Kāwanatanga o Aotearoa”.

Advice on the change, presented to Public Service Minister Paul Goldsmith by Public Service Commission officials, said it would be “likely to be perceived as de-prioritising te reo Māori and diminishing the Crown’s active protection and partnership obligations”.

Officials claimed it could cause “material harm to the Crown-Māori relationship”.

What a load of bollocks. This is the woke virus that has infested much of the public service. They say that putting the language used by 99% of NZers ahead of the language used by 3% of NZers will cause material harm.

David Farrar runs Curia Market Research, a specialist opinion polling and research agency, and the popular Kiwiblog where this article was sourced. He previously worked in the Parliament for eight years, serving two National Party Prime Ministers and three Opposition Leaders

So why is the government continuing to employ these unelected politicians who do nothing for the country?

It also tells you just how radically racist and incompetent the public service has become.

Good idea. I suggest we give it the nice round priority rating of zero.

And those officials who proffer such advice should be fired on the same day.

Actually 4.14 has a point. Dont be like the left David, let's bring this out in the open. The left are happy to do it with their gutter tactics but sweep it under the carpet when its of their benefit.
Name these officials or at least tell us why you cant. You are better than the left.

Are these 'officials' serious? Sounds like a Monty Python sketch. The NZ Govt branding is used all over the world. We shouldn't even have a te reo name for the govt for heavens sake. What use is it? Only confuses foreign govts we communicate with. As someone says, name these 'officials'. They have no use to the public service. If this quality of person is typical of our public service, no wonder it is bloated. You could sack 20000 of them and I'm sure the 'service' would improve. They aren't fit to serve on a tiddly winks committee!!
