These are their latest policies and it's these ideas and policies that will lead to their election loss.
Social housing assistance is being adjusted so the money can be offset in the private sector, so those paying more can get a better deal. It's a perfectly logical policy.

The main problem with the current version of Labour is they are not the Labour aligned to Mike Moore or David Lange or Annette King or Helen Clark.
Middle Labour. Sensible Labour.
Move-on orders deal with people who cause trouble, mainly downtown. It's not the homeless per se, as pedalled by Labour and the media. It's not some poor, tragic soul quietly in a corner wondering what's happened to their life.
It’s the troublemaker, the violent, threatening thug, the person who abuses you, attacks you, causes trouble and a scene, often as a result of too many drugs.
They frighten people, they kill business. They have no more rights than the rest of us and yet it's those people Labour support.
Can't move them on because they deserve more rights than the rest of us.
Now, Labour are entitled to believe this, and they are entitled to promote it as a reason to vote for them.
The trouble is this version of Labour is hopelessly out of touch with middle New Zealand and middle New Zealand wins and loses elections.
Opposing the Government for the sake of it is not mature or well thought through.
Explain the logic of a person in a state house paying less just because it’s a state house. It literally makes no sense and yet because the Government did it, it must be wrong.
Explain to the business owner why the drugged-out deadbeat blocking your shop door has more right to be there than the customer who can't get in.
That's Labour 2026. And that’s why they're going to lose.

Labour's policies may not make sense when critically examined but the election won't be decided by critical examination of policies. It will be decided by personalities and public perception, created by the media. The media portray the move-on orders as being about homelessness, as do the churches, trade unions and social worker "experts", so that's what the public think.
I saw the TVNZ news yesterday (which I normally avoid). All the lead stories were anti-National.
Anon 3:38 is spot on. NZ does not have media that counters the left propaganda. Social media cannot replace television that is in your face every time you switch the TV, and cannot reach passive or not tech savvy people. Whose vote counts!
The homeless rarely vote. National surgical with policies for their target market. And with more and more people becoming homeless under the current lot, it looks like it will pay off! Clever strategy!
I tend to agree with Anonymous 3:38am (get some sleep, mate) and 9:32am. The majority of people receive a daily package of instructions on what to think. The first part of the package arrives in the form of the newspaper (typically hard copy). The second is drip-fed throughout the day, in the form of social media. And the final installment arrives at 6:00pm on the television. Everyone dutifully digests all of that, and then retires to bed (except for Anonymous 3:38am) in eager anticipation of the next day's package of Group Think.
This election will be decided by whether NZF & ACT can persuade & get middle NZ voters to support them - Labour Lite (National) is a lost cause under an out of touch leader with its appeasement policies to court leftist voters and MÄoris (who will never vote National anyway).
Labour should lose, because they proved they can never again be trusted.
I would have thought that was painfully demonstrated with their nefarious pandemic management.
Them and the bloody Judiciary, Police, Medical Profession and Fourth Estate.
Piffle to policies - social housing and deadbeat management.
Of course there is always the simple reason Labour will be able to form a government.
People will not vote for Luxon. That simple.
