Perspective with Heather du Plessis-Allan: This Government's all talk, bugger all action

This morning, the Prime Minister was asked about the 2000 public servants that had lost their jobs. 2000 are out but 64,000 remain.

Chris Luxon saw nothing wrong with that.

That right there is part of the reason why this Government is polling so poorly, because it's all talk, isn't it, bugger all action.

Barry Soper: Are we seeing the first cracks in the new Government?

So are we, as has been widely reported, seeing the first major cracks in the National-led coalition Government?

Of course we are not. How on earth anyone can believe that three political parties, in this case, can surrender their identities at Government House when they're sworn in is nothing short of fanciful.

Beg-to-differ clauses have been in coalition agreements ever since coalition Governments came into being under MMP in 1996. The only time they haven't been in place was of course during the unbridled Labour Government over the last three years, and look where that got us.

Heather du Plessis-Allan: Just buy two new planes

Well, we're just gonna have to pony up and buy a couple of new planes, aren't we?

Come on, this is the second time this year that this plane has broken down on Chris Luxon, and if he keeps on insisting on using these old girls, it's definitely not going to be the last time.

I reckon Al Gillespie made the best argument today for why we should have a plane that works - rather than flying the Prime Minister around the place commercially.

Heather du Plessis-Allan: A tough start to the year for the new Government

Looks to me like it’s a tough old start to the year for the new Government.

This is basically day one of the news year, the TV news shows were back this morning, most of the big radio shows are back today- and what are we all talking about?

The big hui at Turangawaewae at the weekend, and the unexpectedly big Māori opposition to the Government's Māori related policies.
