Heather du Plessis-Allan: This is the consequence for Ghahraman's actions

Yesterday, after we talked about Golriz Ghahraman's guilty plea, I got a text from someone listening which said something along the lines of- we should feel sorry for Golriz Ghahraman and the media need to back off.

Now, the first part is fair to a point.

I do feel sorry for Golriz, I feel sorry for her in the same way that I feel sorry for my two-year-old when he gets put in his bedroom for time-out and he cries about it.

Karl du Fresne: The striking outpouring of media empathy for Golriz Ghahraman

Rarely has the media’s all-pervasive pro-Left bias been demonstrated more emphatically than in the outpouring of empathy for Golriz Ghahraman.

In the past 24 hours, the tone of media commentary on the scandal surrounding the former Green MP has shifted with striking uniformity. Make no mistake, it was Marc Spring who broke this news and hunted down and published key revelations often hours before the mainstream media, who were slow on the uptake and forever playing catch up.

It started with one allegation, then there was a second and now there are three:

Police are investigating another shoplifting allegation seemingly involving Green MP Golriz Ghahraman, this time in relation to a Wellington store.

David Farrar: The sloppy serial shoplifting saga

We are now getting a clearer timeline of the shoplifting allegations against Green MP golriz ghahraman, and the involvement of the Green Party in (not) investigating serious criminal allegations.

The allegations, if they lead to charges, carry a maximum penalty of seven years jail. A conviction would result in automatic expulsion from Parliament. A conviction could also get Ghahraman disbarred as a lawyer. So these are not trivial issues.

The timeline, known so far is:
