The most significant aspect of the Maiki Sherman affair is that it became public because a Substack writer made it so.

David Seymour made his distaste for the year-long media silence on the matter very obvious by calling April 28th “Ani O’Brien Day.” This was in honour of the woman who wrote an online expose about how the TVNZ Political Editor had homophobically insulted another political reporter, her one time TV3 colleague Lloyd Burr, now at Stuff, at a function in the Finance Minister’s office in May last year.

President Donald Trump rewrote the campaign playbook in various ways during his 2024 run for the presidency, but how he dominated alternative media and spent hours chatting on podcasts instead of appearing on primetime shows might be the most remarkable way he changed the game. Legacy outlets were an afterthought. He continues to leverage new media to his advantage while traditional sources struggle to figure out how to compete with influencers and podcasts, how not only to survive but to thrive. For them to remain contenders, though, is proving to be more complicated than just playing follow the leader.

Robert W Malone: Free-speech hating Leftists have Substack in their crosshairs


Substack’s been accused by Leftists of being a haven for “Nazis.” Is this the beginning of a coordinated effort to staunch the influence of Substack? Substack co-founder Hamish McKenzie doesn’t look like a Nazi sympathizer to me. What he is is one of the world’s great defenders of free speech. People like him are no doubt “a threat” to the world’s shadow rulers...
