John Franklin: “Racism is a White Problem”

“Racism is a White Problem”, is a classic oxymoron as that statement contradicts itself.

To claim that only white people can be racist is in itself a racist statement, it denigrates an ethnic group based on the colour of their skin. The term oxymoron is quite funny as you would think that only a moron could unknowingly contradict themself within a five-word sentence.

What is not so funny is that this oxymoron is part of the training material now promoted in the tertiary education system since the new government entity Te Pukenga took it over.

Educators are often instructed to complete mandatory courses. Below is the foreword from the producers of a series of videos that is part of a new mandatory course called “Equity & Partnership”.

The Series Producer's explain "This is an anti-racism conversation timed to coincide with the 250 year anniversary of Captain Cook’s arrival in Aotearoa. Racism is a white problem, and the onus is on white New Zealanders to look at ourselves."

Link to the course material

Clearly, the producer of the teaching resource believes that brown people can’t be racist, only white people can. Racism must be genetic then, and here I was thinking it was a personal belief when all along it’s just a function of your ancestry, just as well we have these courses to educate dumb people like me. Excuse my sarcasm but I find this position truly moronic, I wonder how these geniuses think this unpacks. Is a person with 50% European and 50% Māori ancestry able to be a racist or not? Are they half-racists?

If you have read my previous article, “The Magic Equity Wand, you will know that I have observed the “equity” term being used to disguise ethnic-based favouritism, so given the title, I was expecting the course to be full of that justification. Also, with the “Partnership” angle, I expected that the favouritism to Māori built into the goals of the Te Pukenga entity was also going to be justified with a twisted interpretation of the Treaty of Waitangi to align it with the co-governance agenda.

So, gritting my teeth, I started to watch the first video, “Cooks Legacy”, a “Pakeha” man starts to talk, he said, “we are the problem, we have always been the problem”, that’s settled any lingering doubts about the racially biased nature of this material. I was expecting it to be based on false precepts, but not blatantly racist, although the producer’s foreword “racism is a white problem” was a strong clue.

Also, the introduction statement, “We are the problem” is designed to falsely connect all New Zealanders with European ancestry to colonisation as a foundational precept.

This course is obviously racist and offensive to anyone with European ancestry and you can see why I refuse to be called a Pakeha - that’s a Māori name for a people they hate based on historic grievances. That’s why you should not let another ethnic group define your identity, by identifying us as “Pakeha” they have also identified us as colonists, who they then label as racists and “the problem”. Obviously that false association is a big part of the problem and what has fed racist attitudes towards “white” New Zealanders.

When I look at New Zealand’s history, it’s hard to find an innocent party outside of the Morori but I am not going to get drawn into a retrospective judgement of that history because it’s unhelpful, and it’s too easy to cherry-pick events that suit your world view. Also, that story is finished, and we can’t influence it, it’s past time to move on as none of us living today had any part in it. It’s the future we need to focus on now as that’s all we can influence for good and it’s currently in jeopardy. We are currently being led down a tragically bad path by an insidious government that has invited a radical racist minority group to help them transform our country to suit their selfish worldview despite what the majority of New Zealanders want.

New Zealanders with European ancestors need to reject any attempt to associate them with colonisation, there is no need to defend or vilify it as we were not there, we had nothing to do with it, so don’t let these racists bait you into identifying with people you have no natural association with.

Regardless of how you view the positives and negatives of that history from our limited viewpoint 200 years later, it’s wrong to judge people based on the colour of their skin, that’s the very definition of racism.

I know that colour or ancestry doesn’t make you good or bad, that’s why I am rejecting those false statements.

The claim that “racism is a white problem” is not only an illogical oxymoron but observationally false as you would have to be blind not see that there are plenty of non-white racists in NZ. They make this false claim to deny they can be racists despite fulfilling every criterion that defines racism. That level of self-delusion is concerning but it’s also a warning that these radicals will not limit their interaction with other ethnic groups by accepted norms, as if you believe that you can’t be racist then you also believe that nothing you do is racist, even when it already is.

Because Māori radicals have been given power by this foolish government over other ethnic groups within all government-run entities, we need to be concerned about the racial persecution of targeted ethnicities like the group they call “Pakeha”, as already demonstrated in this course material.

If we accept this racist propaganda from Te Pukenga, then more will follow, it will get increasingly insulting and, in your face so staying neutral is not going to be a successful strategy but persecution awaits those who publicly object to it, so it’s not something we can avoid.

This government has built a ticking timebomb of racial division that can’t be ignored, it can only be stopped with a new government that is prepared to confront it.

These academic fools are following a bankrupt ideology and trying to tell us that this is NZ “Growing up” by facing our messy history. But that is baloney - this is simply a blame game, this is defaming innocent people by their ethnic origins.

This is racial condemnation of one ethnic group by another, pure and simple, and ironically many of the radicals will have more colonist blood in their veins than those they condemn.

“Growing up” is a ridiculous title for the process of giving one ethnic group authority over all others especially when they believe “racism is a white problem” and that Pakeha “are the problem”.

“Growing up” is not the name for that divisive process when it was sneaked in to bypass democracy, because the Government and the Radicals knew the majority of New Zealanders wouldn’t support it. “Treachery” and “Treason” are better words for this process.

The best indication that NZ is “Growing up” will be when articles like this that condemn race-based policies can be discussed without the media immediately labelling it racist to discredit it and shut down an honest conversation.

It is critical that we understand that these Māori Radicals don’t represent the true values of the Māori people any more than white supremacists represent other Kiwis. There is always a rogue racist element that misrepresents their culture that must be rejected. Some of the best people I know are Māori and some of the worst share my ancestry, so I know your colour has no bearing on your character.

However, we have to face the elephant in the room. This radical Māori group are brown supremacists and share the same heart as white supremacists: they both judge by colour not character - and their devotion to their ethnic identity is narcissistic and at the expense of all others.

This radical Māori group believe that they are the only true New Zealanders, and the rest of us are just foreigners who invaded their land. Their attitude to us is racist by any measure of the word, yet they deny they can even be racist. Not only are they not the only New Zealanders, but they also aren’t even good New Zealanders and sadly New Zealand would be better off without them.

All New Zealanders have a right to equal treatment, we cannot allow one ethnic group to determine the rights of the others in this day and age. That’s as flawed a concept as employing a fox to guard the chickens. It’s stunningly stupid. The evidence of this folly is already appearing with the corrupt use of tax-funded grants and appointments to family members and anti-white doctrines like the one I am exposing here.

It still begs the question, how on earth can that level of folly, division and blatant racism be coming from a government organisation, especially one that claims to be inclusive?

The answer is clear, unfortunately, this Labour government has tragically engaged and enabled a racist group of Māori radicals and ceded them boardroom control over large parts of New Zealand’s infrastructure and government agencies including education. They have done this hugely significant act without a mandate from New Zealanders. They have done this in secret without declaring their true agenda. And they have even deliberately obscured this agenda behind bogus goals such as “Equity”, “Partnership”, “centralisation” - and even behind improving the quality of drinking water as in 3-Waters.

The Prime Minister and her Comrades have deceitfully implemented the disastrous co-governance agenda as part of a flawed interpretation of the UN Agenda UNDRIP. This interpretation even contradicts the UN’s foundational declarations such as The declaration of human rights.

The viability of this idealistic agenda for NZ is seriously debatable but no debate was allowed as it has been introduced by stealth to bypass our democracy - which is pure treachery.

This treason no doubt guarantees Jacinda Ardern a cushy UN role after she is ousted - but sadly, it also guarantees decades of racial division, turmoil and hardship for New Zealanders.

Ardern has sold out her country for her own vanity. She wants to be a UN star - by all accounts, she is a traitor.

Te Pukenga is the takeover of the tertiary education system. They used the same MO as they did for 3-Waters to achieve this. They dissolved the regional controlled entities and centralised them under one government entity under the guise of providing a better service. However, it’s obvious the real goal was always to cede control of the New Te Pukenga entity to Iwi as part of the deliberately concealed co-governance agenda.

Te Pukenga is already controlled by Māori radicals, hence the racist material coming from it. They are now forcing their racist beliefs onto educators, which will force “white” educators to concede to being labelled as genetically programmed racists - and “the problem”. And then to also teach those lies or suffer persecution and ultimately dismissal. This will likely be my fate unless we not only stop but also reverse this process.

Many non-Māori educators have already left, and many more will follow. And then our tertiary education system will be gutted and will fail to provide the service it should to students for years to come.

We all have some natural bias toward our worldview, that’s normal. However, if your worldview is so myopic that you are only motivated to serve one ethnic group at the expense of all others then you are unfit to serve in a multi-cultural democracy. That should be obvious but apparently it’s not.

So, it’s not just a matter of flushing this insidious government. We need to ensure that the racist policies they have implemented without a mandate are removed or they will have ultimately succeeded in their devious plan to bypass our democracy with deceit.

This article is unapologetically very critical of the radical and racist Māori groups led by He Puapua and this treacherous government and rightly so, but it’s regrettable that non-radical Māori are being drawn into this because of those who currently represent them. I suggest it’s time for those Māori to find their voice as these radicals and this insidious government have put Māori on a collision course with the rest of New Zealand - which I consider to be a disaster as I value my relationships with Māori and truly want racial harmony in NZ.

When non-Māori object to co-governance and the inequality it creates, we are automatically dismissed as racists. Those with Māori ancestry who object will no doubt get persecuted as well and called, “useless Māori” by Willy Jackson and his ilk. But their courageous voice is needed at this time to reduce the racial division Jackson’s crew and Cindy’s Comrades are causing.

Hot off the press:

Kelvin Davis proves my point by attacking the mana of Karen Chhour who is exactly the courageous Māori voice I refer to above. Davis said she needs to leave "her Pakeha world", can you feel the hate for “Pakeha”?

Davis also said it is "no good looking at the world from a vanilla lens" which is direct attack on white New Zealanders. I hope Karen Chhour will be supported by other courageous Māori, she has the mana, not Davis and Willie Jackson who are perfect examples of the radical racist Māori’s I refer to throughout this article.

For some like Karen, despite the persecution, rejecting racism and defending the right of all New Zealanders to receive equal treatment is not an option, it’s an obligation, as losing that fundamental right is not just a disaster for this generation but for all those to come.

The little I would ask you to do today is to reject the foundation of lies these racists are trying to construct to justify their actions.

Do not let them label you as “Pakeha” colonists and “the problem” just because you have European ancestry as that is negative racial profiling and speaks to their racism, not yours.

Also, their claim that “Racism is a white problem”, is a racist statement in itself and also speaks to their racism - so reject it. Racism lives in a bitter heart which beats obliviously to the colour of the skin that surrounds it.

Instead, stand for Equal treatment for all New Zealanders regardless of their ethnic roots. This is the only solid foundation on which to build a multicultural democracy.

As a wise man once said. “Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little”.

John Franklin - another person who can only do a little.

John I completely agree with every word. I have complete contempt for every member of this government, because I although I suspect some of them MUST have more sense, they are conniving in this evil. I long for their downfall - I pray for their relegation to the political wilderness.
Cheers to you Kelvin Davis as you writhe in embarrassment for your stupidity - I hope. He's by no means alone, but just fortuitously he makes the headlines for once in spite of the PIJF. All power to Karen (and Casey).

It's not a straightforward matter though, is it? To ascribe responsibility for racism to Whitey is to give him/her all the power. It's why Robin DiAngelo is so absurd. "White identity is inherently racist; white people do not exist outside the system of white supremacy' but recently she writes 'progressive white people perpetuate racial harm.' Hmm think on that Jacinda - do we see any likeness here?

A question that is never asked by journalists is this:
Just suppose that hypothetically, you could re-write history so that this land had never been colonised, would you find that acceptable?
If the answer were 'yes', a follow-up question would be:
And would you accept that you would therefore enot exist, given that ALL modern Maori have some non-Maori ancestors?
No wonder such questions are not asked, as they would be deemed 'racist', as are all politically 'difficult' questions.

Imagining NZ (Aotearoa) without colonisation would be a challenging Year 13 or so essay topic. But any teacher who marked it logically would lose their job.
Moana Jackson was forever advocating the imagining of decolonisation but he did not challeged his brainwashed faithful to imagine no colonisation in the first place.

Apart from obvious titles such as place names (eg. Wanganui) I do not use any Maori words in my every day communication.
Also, I do not use sign language in my everyday communication.
I am not hearing impaired.
I communicate in English.
The ridiculous use of faux "Maori" names for government departments such as Orangi Tamariki for the Ministry of Children is simply a racist posture.

A clear and concise observation of the current situation. I find it difficult to see how this can possibly be rectified given the depth of infiltration of those seeking control of every institution and asset in NZ. No amount of conversation will deflect the iwi elite from their purpose. It can only end in tears but from the ashes, there may be a better model for all NZ ers in the future.

Unfortunately every word you have said is true John and yet some will deny and refuse to listen to any truth about this comtentable Govt! We must ALL do as much as we can to make certain Labour will lose next year's Election. Thank you for your clear view on this awful situation we don't want but are currently in.

Racism is often conflated by the political Left with simple prejudice, which it is not.

Racism occurs where a group of people with an ethnocentric membership base creates or colonises a system to afford themselves separate, different, or superior rights on the basis of group membership.

When brown supremacist part-Maori who have elevated one group of ancestors while turning another into a toilet bowl to identify monoculturally as ‘Maori’ bang on about ‘racism,’ they don’t want to get rid of any 'racism' that might be going about.

Just place it under new management.

Theirs.

But the Left has done a dirty little bait-and-switch.

One that has been going on for decades.

As black American political economist, Thomas Sowell, wrote in 1988: "Sixty years ago, if you believed everyone should play by the same rules and be judged by the same standards, you were a radical. Thirty years ago, you were a liberal. Today, you're a 'racist.'"

How was this accomplished?

Sixty years ago, organised religion was much more of the factor in people's lives.

If you wanted to engage in public virtue-signaling, you arrived early for church every Sunday, sat down the front and sang very loudly, and made sure everybody saw and heard you.

Today, religious belief has declined to an eye-roll among the educated classes, and has been replaced by the secular social religion of Marxism with populist pieties about 'the poor,' 'the workers,' 'saving the planet,' 'LGBT + right,' 'indigenous people' etc.

Academic Marxists divided society into groups that 'oppress' and groups that are 'oppressed.'

And if you're born into an 'oppressor' group you have two options: [1] continue to collude in the 'oppression' your group is historically and collectively responsible for, or cross the floor and go in to bat for the 'oppressed.'

'Woke-ism' is pseudo-religious public virtue-signaling by libtards who have been programmed at university with all the principles of Marxism but without the label, then flattered for their cleverness in accepting the programming.

Hence the liberal virtue-signalers who loudly announce "I'm learning Te Reo" or "I'm straight but I marched in the Hero Parade," or "I'm driving a Prius to 'save the planet.'"

These emetics are filth on the face of my country because without their connivance Treatyism -- as well as many other destructive, subversive Marxist-derived social movements -- would never have got off the ground.

A very well argued case for standing up to the rapidly growing grievance industry in NZ. The point the author made that resonates with me most is saying we shouldn’t tolerate brown supremacy, just as we don’t tolerate white supremacy. Well said.

Thanks heaps for this excellent essay John. I have been waiting for information about the actual content of the teachings our children will be exposed to through Te Pukenga. I don't want to spend my time reading screeds of boring stuff and don't have the stomach for its predictable socialist and racist intentions. Note also yet another Maori name for a taxpayer-funded service meant to serve all in NZ and again a name that doesn't give a clear idea of what that service is as, for example, the 'Department of Education' did, aside from the fact that the large majority of NZers won't know what the Maori term means anyway and many don't want to learn te reo.

Just a small point regarding grammar (and indeed respect for use of the English language...); 'begs the question' has a specific and important meaning that is not 'raises the question', so it's better to use 'raises the question' if in doubt.

John
I may be slightly off topic here but would like to address the origin of the word pakeha. First off, it's not a Māori word but an English one, in fact two words bugger & you.

When Captain Cook first arrived in NZ one of the oaths or epithet among the crew was bugger you. Of course, when spoken by mainly uneducated and rough men it came out as "bugga ya" (say it out loud to yourself). To Māori ears unused to english at that time it sounded like "pakeha" and as there is no b in the Māori alphabet, they spelt it with a p.

The same thing happened when the French first arrived here, Māori called them wi wi (oui oui) and soon became to be known as the dreaded Wi wi as they became shit scared of the French, and this was partially why the TOW came into being. (See sir Apirana Ngata TOW)

Hope this has been of some help.

Now at 90 years old with 50 years as a high school teacher I have lost patience with the "woke" attitude. I have lived with Maori all my life and am sure most of them are as fed up with the radicals as I am. With Maori classmates, teammates, workmates, neighbours, friends and in-laws I have just been family and enjoyed the company of most of them even not liking a few of them just as I have been with all other persons. When challenged for criticising the actions of some radicals my answer has become: "Don't label me with that racist shit."
Full marks for a brilliant article.

We must refuse to play their devisive games. When speaking English, speak the purest form available. I will not speak Manglish. Personally when filling in forms I am a New Zealand citizen. I will include my sex (male) and reluctantly my age( 65+). Everything else is personal and between my doctor and myself.
