The solid orange is excess deaths compared to years 2015-2019. The solid blue is when deaths are less than expected. The blue line is the average 2015-2019. The black line is the current number of deaths by week. The data speaks for itself. My conclusion: I am pretty sure David has never visited Our World in Data. As you can see, excess deaths are getting higher year by year. 2023 is currently running at approximately 18% above the historical average. We are on target to have 6,000 additional deaths in 2023 compared to 2015-2019.

The relatively lower 2020 excess death figures are due to strict border controls, lockdowns, social distancing, and track and tracing, which kept both Covid and seasonal flu out. In 2021 lockdowns continued, and flu was kept at bay at the border, but as the vaccine rollout began, excess deaths rose. Subsequently, we followed the same upward trajectory as other countries. Just notice that we can’t blame this on Covid because the upward trend began before Covid arrived.
During the interview, David Seymour reaffirmed his support for the Covid vaccination programme and derided any suggestion that there was any safety issue with Covid vaccines.
We need to not only ask politicians hard questions but also insist on factual answers. I wonder who misled David Seymour, and why didn’t he fact check the figures before passing them off to the public? David told the audience that he was not entirely stupid and a trained engineer who knows how to read a scientific paper. But does he read published papers on Covid safety? It doesn’t seem so.
David also outlined his enthusiasm for genetic engineering, saying that opposition to GMOs in New Zealand was being driven by the superstitious and the crazy. Do you think David Seymour would pay enough attention to safety if elected? With the widespread introduction of genetically engineered mRNA vaccines, we have had a massive in excess deaths, which David seems to want to brush under the carpet.
David is not alone, all our political parties are pretending there are no excess deaths. It would be too embarrassing, considering their support for mRNA vaccination, for them to admit the facts. We need to hold all our politicians to account. There are thousands of deaths unacknowledged by those we have trusted to run to the country. Currently, every day 16 more New Zealanders are dying than the historical trends would predict, but our politicians are not just remaining silent. They are pretending it is not happening.

My question to Seymour would be --why would NZ be the "odd man out" in the countries that were highly vaccinated? All other similar countries are reporting excess deaths compared to the normally expected rate of death. In all international comparison reports, NZ is in the table of countries, which list the excess death rates.
I listened to the broadcast but after Seymour stated that NZ had negative excess deaths, Brennan didn't challenge him on it.
Seymour did seem to be taking a rather aggressive approach towards the end of the interview (I'll be honest, I only listened to snippets) and Paul Brennan seemed a little too accommodating at times.
Live radio/TV is the perfect place to hold someone to account for their misleading statements. But the host chose not to. He should have had the stats in front of him and called Seymour out.
That's the only way we'll get mainstream politicians to look fairly and openly at issues. If they get an easy ride they'll follow their own agenda.
Get real Deem ,Seymour would never admit anything regardless of what Paul Brenham put to him,I think Brenham conducted the interview brilliantly,Seymour’s arrogance was there for all to see

Seymour is playing to the MSM that he says he detests. Where are the leaders when we need them?
I did have an on-going email exchange with 'a Senior Economist' who held the same view as Seymour, quoting the same source as Seymour. The Senior Economist was not interested in spreading his info net wider or entertaining any other provided data.
I gave up.
How are others getting interpretation wrong? Surely, if anything, Seymour would be more interetsed in showing the excess as a reflection on Labour policy. I wonder how figures look population adjusted. And I do not have the patience or eyesight to deduct the Covid deaths. Presumably no one is attributing the excess all to vaccine reactions. Did he mean to imply that our exess was less than other's excess, which at least until recently was the case?

Well, I guess we'll never know because Reality Check Radio failed to live up to its name and actually interview a politician and hold them to account.

Liar liar pants on fire. The only criterion to be a politician in this day and age it seems, is to lie with conviction and a straight face. The truth will eventually out ALL these deplorables and the lies that they told.
The ACT party is more than David.
He treats his supporters with disdain to his political peril.
How does the phrase go 'Lies, Damn lies and statistics (misinterpreted to suit your viewpoint)." There is also the phrase ' Lies ,Damn Lies and Medical Research".
