Mike's Minute: The Trump shooting was an unbelievable moment in history

Obviously you can't make this stuff up.

Buried deep in the crisis that is Joe Biden and his inability to look anything close to a presidential candidate, we are then distracted by the other bloke getting shot.

Was something as ugly as this always bound to happen? Is America that broken?

Trump obviously is not the first, but its been a long time since Ronald Reagan.

A couple of odd things - why were his shoes off? Why do your shoes come off when you hit the ground? This is not to diminish or take away from the seriousness of the event, but it seems odd.

As regards his reaction, working for him is the fact he was able to get up, raise his fist and yell out numerous times the word “fight”.

When age is an issue in a campaign and you have the energy to take a graze, get up and raise your fist and turn it into a photo opportunity, that's going to play exceedingly well for you.

He looks like a fighter.

He is also, I assume, exceedingly lucky to be alive, given whatever hit him didn’t hit him properly.

Which then leads to the question - how do you change your campaign going forward, security wise?

Obviously the convention this week will be well locked down.

But November is a long way away and a lot of rallies need to be held. As much security as Trump had yesterday, it wasn’t enough to stop someone crazy having a crack.

On security, although it didn’t stop it, you had to see the swarm to believe it. They were nowhere to be seen, until they came from everywhere.

Good luck trying to get into something presidential going forward.

None of this course plays well for America.

The current president is in severe and obvious decline and seemingly refusing to go anywhere as his party implodes with panic. In the meantime, the guy against him is a shooting victim.

What does that say about the country and its place in the world?

The U.S presidential campaign of 2024 - if you think you can guess what happens next, you're dreaming.

Not that I advocate violence as a political tactic but if someone shot Biden it would be a mercy killing.

Frankly the American money system worries me more wih its unimaginable deficit. It sets the pace for everywhere else. When it implodes we all will. Little wonder gold has rocketed. AlthoughpPossibly when they have finishd baiting Putin there may be few around to worry about money.
So much store is placed on image in weird USA that many would rather die to be noticed than be just another nobody.

You use the word CRAZY Trump uses the word WICKED. These value driven emotive words do nothing for the situation except potentially inflame it.

Wherever you sit on the political spectrum it is a very sad indictment on what is happening in America. It is also a personal tragedy for the dead and critically injured.

As an ex-Yank (I renounced my citizenship in the Evil Empire many years ago), and a university trained student of History (when History was NOT written by woke, Neo-Marxist, identity-politics academics and universities were places where truth was debated openly), I can confirm that the USA is a failed state (yeah like Somalia or Yemen). Its an Empire on the skids, and if you study History you see this is what happens sooner or later to all civilizations/societies . There is no American Exceptionalism. "the People get the government they deserve" Trump is just a symptom of the state of the USA citizenry. No one person is going to "save" that place.

Motor mouth Hosking entertains a rabid left wing Democrat promoter named Richard Arnold on his morning talkfest so he is hardly in a position to deliver balance or objectivity. Trump’s achievements have dwarfed most Presidents in the face of the outrageous political interference that remains unpunished to this very day. Trump is risking his fortune and life for the country he truely loves and deserves better. Hosking makes light of this failed assassination from the comfort and safety of his little radio shack.
