Ele Ludemann: The sound of peace

Mediators from Egypt, Qatar and the USA have announced a truce which would result in a ceasefire in Gaza tomorrow.

The truce, announced by mediators Qatar and the United States on Wednesday, would begin on Sunday and involve the exchange of Israeli hostages for Palestinian prisoners, after which the terms of a permanent end to the war would be finalised. . .

There is an imbalance in this – there is a big difference between hostages and prisoners.

People on both sides have paid a high price in the war that started with the barbaric attacks by Hamas on October 7th.

And the peace will be fragile given the anti-Semitism of Hamas and its supporters.

Apropos of peace and the human cost of war is this from MASH:

There is a big hole in the News coverage of Gaza. The media portray this as a massively one sided conflict where thousands of innocent Palestinians have died. How come this wasn't all finished a year ago? Why does it need a ceasefire as surely (per media) Israel are facing a defenceless civilian population. A ceasefire suggests Israel are still facing well armed Hamas fighters. Where is the media coverage of the fighting?

This looks more like a few jottings intended to culminate in an article than an article.
The only substantive talking point I see here is "There is an imbalance in this – there is a big difference between hostages and prisoners." Please elaborate.
