The reaction of the Greens to Winston Peters post about the MP Benjamin Doyle’s pre-Parliament social media activity has been one of all-out attack.
There was no comment whatsoever from them about what looks like some suspicious behaviour by the now MP when he posted pictures of himself with a young boy and used phrases such as “biblebeltbussy” and “bussy galore” alongside them.
Even this thoroughly uncool and out of touch 71 year old could work out pretty quickly that “bussy” is a derivative of a boy’s pussy, or boy’s anus. Which is just far too close to being suggestive of homosexual paedophilia - which is both illegal and disgusting behaviour.
That’s the kind of man, for a man he is despite whatever other self-identification he may wish to go by, who has come into Parliament as number 18 on the Party list after the departures of James Shaw, Golriz Ghahraman and Darlene Tana. He’s a one-time schoolteacher and Burnett (formerly Aids) Foundation staffer and has been an MP since October last year.
I’ll tell you a little of Mr Doyle’s beliefs shortly, but in response to his social media posts with “biblebelt bussy” and “bussy galore” the Deputy Prime Minister has asked some perfectly relevant questions along the lines of - is this person fit to be an MP?
To be honest I have serious doubts, but he’s now in the job through a process that we’re stuck with so we can’t do much about how he got there.
The questions that Winston Peters have posed are ones that thousands, if not millions, of New Zealanders have been asking since X poster Holyhekatuiteka (@2ETEKA ) unveiled a series of photos on Friday featuring Doyle.
One of them had him kissing a young boy, another with a child his lap. Subsequent reports suggest the child may be his son. I reckon that’s irrelevant because the comments accompanying the photos are highly questionable, especially “bussy galore” which is a play on the famous lesbian character Pussy Galore portrayed by the glamorous Honor Blackman in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger.
Amazingly one of the original photos on Friday’s post is of a certificate for a Masters degree – with First Class Honours - from the University of Waikato awarded not to Benjamin Doyle but to Bible Belt Bussy! The man who is both Vice-Chancellor of the university and Chairman of the Reserve Bank Neil Quigley has his signature on the bottom of that certificate. Of course it was awarded for Māori and Indigenous studies.
After Holyhekatuiteka’s expose on March 28 there was literally radio silence, and a TV and all mainstream media silence too. There was a weekend of a media void until the Deputy Prime Minister made his move on Sunday.
But the Green Party and mainstream media reaction has been remarkable. Nowhere have I seen the original photos published.
Chloe Swarbrick has even gone so far as to accuse Winston Peters of doubling down “on disinformation, fanning the flames of hatred towards the rainbow community that we have recently seen can lead to real world violence.”
She then told us that Benjamin Doyle has been subject to “immense death threats” and that she’s calling on the Prime Minister to reign in the Deputy Prime Minister.
Boo-hoo Chloe. Is there an MP who’s never had a death threat?
Of course she didn’t elaborate on, or wasn’t asked, just what exactly was “disinformation.”
As for” fanning the flames of hatred towards the rainbow community” a few answers from Mr Doyle would help to set the record straight. Like what does Bible Belt Bussy actually mean? And does Bussy Galore mean you like having sex with little boys? Or at least like looking at photos of them naked?
But then the Greens can never come clean about anything. They’re always the victims. Did James Shaw ever get a BA from Victoria and if he didn’t then how did he get into a post-graduate course in the UK? It wasn’t her fault that Golriz was shoplifting until it was obvious it was. We paid Darlene Tana’s salary for way too long when it was obvious she was in involved in her ex-husband’s dodgy employment activity.
Then there’s the mainstream media. Why did it take from Friday till Monday morning to have any reaction to the post on X? Why aren’t the photos of Doyle with the boy, and the associated comments, being published on the Herald, Stuff and RNZ websites? Why is the angle of the story now Swarbrick’s attack on Peters?
Jim Grenon’s move on NZME can’t come soon enough.
Postscript: The following is from Benjamin Doyle’s page on the Parliament website. Don’t worry I couldn’t understand it either.

Benjamin fundamentally believes that there can be no justice without radical and transformational love. Looking up to taniwha such as Bell Hooks, Audre Lorde, Moana Jackson, and Georgina Beyer, they heed the call to advocate for a balance restored, where we build up our people and our planet while simultaneously dismantling what never has and never will serve Aotearoa New Zealand, a politic of radical love, and a politic that imagines the impossible.
Peter Williams was a writer and broadcaster for half a century. Now watching from the sidelines. Peter blogs regularly on Peter’s Substack - where this article was sourced.

Who’s number 19 on the list?
They might be getting the call up very soon😆
Two random thoughts on the this Greens fiasco.
Firstly, who/which is the most useless, Benjamin Doyle or the Party leadership? Such an irreverent (your word Chloe) question will no doubt label me by some in the Green Party as racist, mysoginistic, gay-bashing, Te Tiriti and Climate Change denying, and, worst of all, a boomer. Yet Doyle can apparently, according to Swarbrick, write whatever he likes with impunity. What a world view.
Secondly, who made the apparent decision at AdsquawkZB to whitewash this story and sweep it under the carpet? In view of the upcoming NZME board meetings I would have thought that this was unwise at best or, more likely, stupid beyond belief.
Finally, my sincerest apology to Graham Adams. This latest episode has proven the absolute need for comment and scrutiny on the Green Party and that my glib "who cares" remark was completely and utterly wrong.
The reaction of both the Green Party and MSM is just as concerning as Doyle's own behavior. They like playing the victim, but what about all the victims of pedophilia? What about all the victims of sexual abuse in state care? Doyle's media posts might have been intended to be irreverent and light hearted, but so what? They are very very sick. The Greens should stop playing the victim and start looking at the harm they cause.
It wouldn't surprise me if the Greens go UP in the polls after this.
That's how woke and detached from reality the Lefties in NZ are.
Of course we all know what would've happened if it had been a Coalition MP - a MSM feeding frenzy.
Good news is that that's why the Left will never win for long because even some of the ignorant, apathetic and entitled eventually find them too much to stomach.
Most rational New Zealanders will be appalled that this guy was elected to our parliament. New Zealanders are pretty tolerant. To call this out is not being "anti-gay" at all. We can see by his posts he has pretty radical, unconventional views. How on earth was he even put anywhere near being involved with children's wellbeing in parliament? Our country appears to be plumbing new depths every day. Good on Winston, the only MP with any commonsense it seems. Now, can people see why Trump was elected in the US? Most people quietly strive to take the "high road", even if we often fall short. It takes courage and tenacity from our Prime Minister. He has none.
Oddly enough he got thru 5 months (including Xmas) before showing his true colors.
Peter, he's absolutely perfect to be the greens child minister.
The pedophile symbol Doyle had in his bio & his grotesque posts should be enough for the police to investigate him. There is no way a man posting a photo of a child with an eggplant emoji & cheese etc & all the other comments, is innocent - maybe in isolation, but not when it is a pattern. I bet if police forensics looked at his computer they’d find worse.
Police & OT would have moved against him in a nano second if he was a straight guy in the Nats or Act etc….or Destiny Church!
Doyle needs to be relieved of his portfolios immediately. It is bad enough he is dehumanising his son by denying biological reality & saying his son is non binary or a girl, but these posts are heinous.
If you look them up there’s one of him kissing his son on the lips in a suggestive pose. He is taking advantage of his child’s innocence & natural love for his Dad.
Those of us that are parents know the difference between an innocent moment between a loving parent & their child, & predatory behaviour. That photo suggested the latter.
And DeeM, can we add that the current lifestyle of " wokeism " is the carrying of your cell phone in the left hand, always referring to it instantly, when it pings, as for the receiver, it will have all " the good news", that is instantly seen as believable and will be instantly ' re-tweeted ' to all the friends of the recipient, they in turn will will ' re-tweet ', maybe with amendment and or extra comment added.
With all of the above, the MSM across the world do not have to print a word. If they do - a recent quote from another source stated -
" Today's MSM are not and never will be, investigative journalists. Their time in an office is perusing computers for news, or social media, and when an interesting item arises, it becomes a story, from an unnamed source. If repeated more than once, it becomes believable"
A good example of this is a story from the accuser of Prince Andrew and her ' breathtaking tale ', following her MVA, with self taken photos added. AND the International (and NZ) MSM swallowed it ' hook, line & sinker '. It has now been debunked. BUT the story is still out there, repeated ad infinitum - both in print and across social media, the later more so.
And these people are tomorrow's voters.
Point of order Janine. Doyle was not elected in any way shape or form. He is like any parasite he was attached to the host already by being on the list.
Janine - Doyle wasn't elected - he is a list MP.
The only electorate that he could possibly win would be Wellington.
An oxygen thief of the worst sort - he will never, can never function as a useful member of society.
The failure for adults on all sides to put concerns about the child involved at the centre of any concerns is the biggest problem with the response to this. Child exploitation and sexualisation is never ok.
'NATURE' does not allow a 'doyle' make children!!!
This shows the bizarre and false reality that both the Greens and the MSM live in. They are defending the indefensible.
Posts of this nature would terminate his employment in most professions and reputable businesses and prevent his involvement anywhere near children.
Yet the Greens believe he is a suitable person to be a member of parliament. Clearly anyone of any nature is suitable to be a member of their party.
You could see the despair on poor Chloe's face. She has spent 10 years of her life in the party only to be now continually defending the pile of rabble and no hopers that are her fellow
Green MP's.
And what was the Green Party's sole contribution to the environment last year ? Oh yes, something about micro chipping cats !
Well done Chloe !
Doyle seems to think what the world needs is radical love …. From what I’ve seen of him I am pretty sure this is exactly what the world doesn’t need, Doyle’s idea of radical love …. 🤦♂️
In springing to Bendy's defence, the Watermelons totally omitted to first reassure the public that the child in the photos was ok, and, therefore, they are taking the matter seriously. It makes me suspicious that they probably are not, because defending BendyBus is all about saving the Green party from scandal that could be ruinous.
A good question. What exactly is Doyle's definition of 'radical love'?
