For 2025 LEAVERS that would be 10,496 young people.
Despite what people to the esteemed level of the current Minister of Education stating – NCEA is easy to understand and clearly defined.
To get NCEA Level 1:
– you pass the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisites (and earn 20 credits).
– you earn 60 credits in courses at Level 1, 2, or 3.
To get NCEA Level 2:
– you pass the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisites (and earn 20 credits) at Level 1.
– you earn 60 credits in courses at Level 2, or 3.
To get NCEA Level 3:
– you pass the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisites (and earn 20 credits) at Level 1.
– you earn 60 credits in courses at Level 3.
To get University Entrance:
you pass the Literacy and Numeracy co-requisites (and earn 20 credits) at Level 1.
– you earn 14 credits in 3 “accredited courses” and meet other basic literacy and numeracy requirements.
In turns out that the Ministry of Education has been fidging the numbers … SIGNIFICANTLY.

“The figure has been under-reported because since 2004 the Education Ministry has counted students half-way to a level two or three NCEA certificate as if they had a qualification, even if they didn’t.”
What it means is this … we were reporting that just over 10,000 young people (15%) were leaving our system with no formal qualifications and a very limited future. The true number is 19% (13,165) last year.
This is a significant scandal in two ways.

How can the Ministry Education officials fudging / fidging the numbers , writing the false reports to the Hon Nicola Stanford be the fault of the Minister .
I say sack the lot and let AI takeover and get correct details next morning .
The Ministry is too busy wondering if transgender indoctrination is being properly inflicted on students .
A friend's child had a day of transgender 'education' from his local primary school. He rebelled against being asked questions about his choice of gender and new name ,by saying ' What the f****, I'm a boy and my name is Sam ". The parents knew nothing of this 'special transgender' day and had not talked about it at all.l The teacher rang the parents and complained about the child's attitude. The child is years behind in spelling and unprepared for secondary in written work because of this . But the school have never put effort into informing the parents of this lack .
Consequently the parent replying . to the phone call told the teacher in no uncertain terms that academic achievement was of primary importance, but the school had never rung up or informed the parents of this drastic lack the child had. Anyway , they added, it was the child's honest view entirely, about their transgender programme .
I am not surprised our academic standards are rock bottom ,We have a an appalling education system and I believe parents should be in control of educational decisions. Any Joe Bloggs selected randomly in the street ,with school cert. could not possibly do worse than what the MInistry of Miseducation does . Add corruption , and deception to the other long list of black marks against them. I wouldn't have them run even a lab. rat training programme .Too mean to rats.
