Rupert Pye: New Book on 2022 Parliamentary Protest Will Reveal Full Story

There’s a new book and - media willing - which will lay out some startling revelations about State aggression and abuse behind the 2022 Freedom of Speech protests at Parliament.

The book is written by outdoors personality Alan Simmons and lawyer Sue Grey who at the time were co-leaders of the New Zealand Outdoors and Freedom Party and were present at the protest.

The new book will be launched at the iconic pub and eatery Back Bencher in Wellington’s Molesworth Street On Thursday 16 May around 5 p.m. Fittingly the Back Bencher is opposite Parliament grounds where the protest drama unfolded and was played out.

Jacinda Ardern had stood in parliament advocating the right to protest and appointed a police commissioner to ‘police by consent’.  This necessarily requires inclusive public policy and reactive force to protest.

The Labour government’s arguably unnecessary mandates pushed a peaceful populace over the edge in a growing combustion of angry disgust as the ‘kind’ leader cast her own people out of the team. Jacinda Ardern stated there would be no consequences if you were not vaccinated. The unvaccinated, kiwis stuck out in the world and unnecessary extended lockdowns with all the petty rules spread a cancer of division and false self-righteousness. The unvaccinated lost jobs, livelihoods and socio-economic status.

Who would have thought that protests against government abuse of authority in the capitals of both this nation and the United States of America would have such remarkably similar outcomes. I am referring to the Jan 6th 2021 “insurrection” in the US and last year’s Parliament grounds “riots” here in Godzone.

Last Friday saw Parliament’s grounds filled with Global Climate Strike protesters led by Izzy Cook, a year 12 student. The protesters came armed with six “demands”:

* Ban synthetic fertilisers
* Halve the number of cows
* Free public transport
* Safe cycle and walkways
* End all coal, oil and gas exploration
* Just transition.

Fair enough. And putting aside that the students took time off school to attend and didn’t sacrifice their free time for the cause, we still should give them credit for fighting for a cause they believe in.

But also this week - came this astonishing taxpayer funded propaganda piece - styled as a “documentary”.
