Derek Mackie: The NZ Far Left Grows

There are two parties in the NZ Parliament that meet the definition of neo-Marxist Hard-Left in my view.
And before you jump in, I’m not talking Labour here, although a very good case could be made for their inclusion on a number of issues, too. But they just don’t possess the complete unabridged set of unhinged, off the planet, obnoxious, morally corrupt and frankly, moronic policies embodied by my nominations.
Care to hazard a wild guess?
Too easy! Te Pati Maori and The Greens

The tantrum twins of NZ politics.
All shout, but no clue about.
All rant, but debate and reason they can’t.

Both embrace a warped brand of racist and minority obsessed socialism, with a hefty dose of climate hysteria in the case of The Greens; and colonial-fueled entitlement and resentment from the Maori Party.
A heady, toxic mix built on a foundation of negativity and social division, which certainly appeals to the more cerebrally challenged.

They call it “progressive”, but progress to what exactly?
Ultimately, a state in which one minority effectively rules over the rest of us - that’s what!
They’ve never studied history. Well, only the iwi elite sponsored rubbish that enables them to get what they want - wealth, power and resources. If they took the time to delve into our murky past, they’d realise that what they call progressive is exactly what we used to have before democracies came along.

They claim to deplore racism, but every one of their policies overtly favours Maori at the expense of everyone else. If that’s not racism, I don’t know what is.
All of them who claim Maori ancestry are only part-Maori, and in most cases are more than 50% other ethnicities. But this bothers their one narrow-gauge track minds not a jot and, just like their plans for the non-Maori majority, they have no problem consigning most of their DNA to the back of the queue.

They openly applaud and justify Hamas’ terrorist attacks against civilians, inanely comparing themselves, and their brave struggle against the overwhelming benefits of colonialism, to their Arab heroes, then denounce the Israelis for retaliating.
Some of their supporters, on the face of it, are well educated, “intelligent” medical professionals who proudly sign collective letters supporting their Palestinian cuzzies in their fight against colonial oppression.

I do question whether these same bright sparks have figured out that without the big-C they wouldn’t have their high status, well paid careers, and enjoy all the trappings of an affluent modern lifestyle.
Of course they haven’t! That would require common sense and realism, something they’ve had medically neutered or surgically removed.
Doing a dance, sprinkling some plants and shaking a rattle over the sick and dying would have been their native equivalent. No all-expenses-paid overseas trips to medical conferences either.
What!! But that’s a basic condition of any specialist’s contract.

When it comes to the long-suffering Middle East, I don't take sides but the absurdity and hypocrisy of their position surely must be obvious to any decent person who cares about human life in general. I mean an innocent is an innocent, no matter which team they’re from, right?
Not in neo-Marxist Land they’re not, where there’s always a final solution for getting rid of those who offend your deranged feelings. It shows a complete lack of empathy and sound judgement, which should be enough to send sensible compassionate souls running in the other direction.

They promote a plainly false interpretation of The Treaty of Waitangi, claiming a particular Maori word means “partnership” instead of “sovereignty”. Despite the original Treaty being written by the British, who didn’t enter into partnerships with any other country they conquered, and ample evidence that the hundreds of Maori chiefs who signed the Treaty knew exactly what they were doing and actively urged the Crown to assume sovereignty over New Zealand to stop the inter-tribal slaughter that was decimating Maori.

On the economy, their solution to make NZ more “successful" is typically socialist. A combination of unlimited wasteful spending and higher taxes aimed at redistributing wealth. The last bit sounds good, but it’s been tried before and it just doesn’t work.
In practice, any money raised in the short-term is used to pay for a wider range of more generous benefits to their “colonially oppressed” mates, keeping them dependent on hand-outs and forever entitled.
It doesn’t last long though, because the rich, the job creators and the entrepreneurs soon head offshore, taking their ideas, wealth, profits and employment with them.
In the longer term, most definitely UNkind, UNcaring and leading to UNprosperity. Exactly the same claptrap espoused by their ideological masters at the UNited Nations.

The poor average taxpayer left behind then has to find the difference, so income taxes go up in the middle and higher brackets. Many of these people are not Maori and have to fund the ever increasing raft of pro-Maori policies which are keeping the Far-Left in control, while being politically excluded in this new not-very-democratic “democracy”.
Taxation without representation, effectively.

Our two Hard-Left parties don’t even pretend to be democratic.
Like kids in the playground who find out nobody else wants to play their game, they cry slogans like “the tyranny of the majority” and “the inequity of one-person-one-vote”.
Do they really not know how democracies work? Or are they playing to the significant number of gullible non-Maori who pander to this kind of childish political nonsense, exposing their own rank ignorance and woke virtue signalling.

Despite the issue of racist co-governance being front and centre for many voters in this electoral campaign, Te Pati Maori and The Greens both increased their share of the party vote significantly.
In 2020 they got 9.1% combined, but this time grew that to 14.7%, and got two more seats than their party vote allocation due to the undemocratic Maori seats, securing 21 seats between them.
21 crazy extremists out of 122! That’s near-as-dammit one-in-six votes which were cast for the NZ Hard Left.

You might say, but that’s just Labour voters showing their discontent with their own party and switching sides.
OK - but why go even further Left, into the political twilight zone, and not into the centre, which is where the vast majority of Labour supporters used to be found?

You might also say that many voters are largely apathetic and ignorant of detailed policy, made worse by the biased and selective coverage provided by our mainstream media, so many switched to The Greens, purely for environmental reasons. Even though virtually all Green policies for saving the planet are founded on bad science, or no science at all, and will never work practically or economically.
I can accept that to a degree.

The thing is, even our vetted MSM coverage of both Hard-Left parties leaves the audience in little doubt as to their all-consuming love for everything Maori, and their disdain for European ethnicities, which they blame for all their woes.
Asians are tolerated but largely ignored and likely seen as a tax cash-cow, since many are hard-working, productive business owners.
This blatantly racist view of society has been openly reported and cheered on by our MSM. And the election result shows that their approach is working.

Perhaps the 5.6% combined gain in the party vote is due to the new generation of voters who have come on board. Those young adults who have been brainwashed for the last 20 odd years with the woke world view, reaching fever pitch with our outgoing administration.
Personally, I think this is a contributing factor.

Our new government has a very important job to do.

Across all government departments and policies they must start the pain-staking task of dismantling the racist and minority-obsessed orthodoxy that has taken root and infected NZ, and is the raison d’etre for Te Pati Maori and, more recently, The Greens.

In particular, Education must be a principal area of focus.
Schools and tertiary institutions, grooming our next generations of Kiwis, must be sanitised of the toxic woke agenda.
Matauranga Maori must be relegated to a social science and not be compulsorily wrangled into every other course.
The oppressive onslaught of Maori cultural practices and greetings and blessings that go on interminably, which everyone is forced to endure, must be scaled back and made optional.
Freedom of speech and opinion must be actively encouraged and protected, not prosecuted and cancelled.

If this government shrugs its responsibilities and lets down those who voted for it and expect meaningful social change and a commitment to enshrining democratic principles, where all citizens have the same rights, opportunities and responsibilities, while rejecting race-based policies, then we can expect to see the Hard-Left grow further as more deliberately misinformed voters become eligible at the young end of the scale.
The way things stand and if little is done, going forward the numbers are against the centre-right unless they are serious about addressing things NOW.

National has a track record of tweaking bad Labour policy but effectively retaining it. That can’t happen this time. We have two smaller parties, ACT and NZFirst, who combined have almost 30% of the government seats. They need to negotiate hard on key policies which got them a large share of their vote, particularly around dismantling co-governance and the Left propaganda which is awash in our education sector.

Let’s have a truly transformational government over the next 3 years, and beyond. One that maintains unity in Wellington while working hard to ensure the same result across the whole country.

I suspect very many voters are conned by the name Greens; they naively assume that furtherance of the natural world is their prime motivation.
I am surprised maori do not support the Israelis. After all both desire to rid the country of citizens entitled to be there. As Atarita Pohananga notably claimed years ago, to the maori mind, we colonists are just visitors.
The concept of retalitation considerably disproprtionate to any historic wrong would also seem to appeal.

Well greens and te pati are now borderline terrorist organisations if you ask me. Both are pro-hamas. I hope they are some sort of watch list by intelligence here.

What a great synopsis.
All the embittered progressives on the gravy train with their hands out.

I am Jewish. If the Green and Māori party parliamentary numbers increase at the next election and then able to come into power. What will happen to the 6000 Jews in this country? Will we be expelled, will we suffer special restrictions, will we have to pay special taxes, will we have to live below view? Will, god forbidden, will we be chased around and lose our lives? Quoting Winston Peters who said “this is not our first rodeo”, for us it will not be our first nor our second nor our hundredth. All Jewish people know that sometimes, things go against us, it would just be nice to have a reasonable time to sell up and bugger off. I love this country with all my heart as my family have lived in peace here for more than 150 years. Is our time up here??? I hope not.
