This points up the power of cancellation and illustrates the huge flaw of co governance. All councils must hold referendum to at least partly isolate Councillors from cancellation influence. Otherwise their votes are seriously nfluenced and skewed.
Now we are seeing what co-goverance and tikanga really mean. Governance by violence, bullying and intimidation. In other words, the way "great cheifs" like Te Rauparaha and Hongi Hika behaved and like the Mongrel Mob and TPM behave today.
The news of shots being fired at a political figure comes as no surprise.
At this point in time, there is no evidence that will identify the perpetrator, but when one considers the circumstances and who would likely have a motive, the finger has to point to someone who resents this councilor's stance opposing Maori Ward seats on their council.
Intimidation and cancelation are the modus operandi of Maori activists, so it is likely that the public would regard them as the offending party. Such behavior would not gain them any support from the majority of New Zealanders, in fact it only polarizes and strengthens the resolve to stand firm with the Coalition Government's agenda to restore equality and democracy. The time for appeasement is over.
Firing shots only brings us closer to civil war.
If we are forced to fight, then fight we must.
Any sane person would realize that both sides will pay a dear price.
