It doesn’t matter where you look; governments on the left stand for a type of socialism that puts them increasingly at variance with governments of the right.
The left are all about taking away individual rights and subjecting the masses to a policy of ‘we know best’. The right is about freedom, peace and prosperity.
Politicians of the left operate in this way because their main goal is to hold on to power. Whatever it takes is what they will do. It doesn’t matter to them who they hurt or who they offend along the way. They are ideologues who do not have the interests of their country or the people at heart.
Their leaders are not there to serve but rather to instruct constituents on how they should behave and run their lives. They introduce restrictions and red tape to impose their agenda on the population. They act more like dictators than believers in democracy. Their desire for power is their number one priority: nothing else matters.
In many countries, particularly in Europe, voters over the last few years are increasingly showing a dislike of the ethos of the left and have installed right-wing governments.
America probably ranks as one of the worst for this tyrannical behaviour.
Biden's administration put people in charge of departments to weaponise them against their enemies, in particular Donald Trump. Several state Attorneys-General openly stated their aim was to get Trump.
They accused Trump of inciting mobs of supporters to storm the White House, a complete lie. Many innocent people have been jailed as a result.
Armed officers raided Trump’s home and accused him of holding official documents and duly charged him. Yet when official documents were found in Biden’s garage, the decision was that he was too infirm to stand trial.
Proven evidence of corruption against Biden and his son involving other countries including Ukraine and China has been ignored. Meanwhile the Democrats promoted a Russia, Russia, Russia hoax allegation against Trump. These are not the actions of a democratic republic…
The left opened the borders, introduced irresponsible economic policies, defunded the police and introduced leniency on crime and unsafe cities.
The best example is California where the attractive city of San Francisco has been turned into a ghetto and the governor has already stated he will oppose Trump’s policies of deportation of illegal immigrants.
These Democrat policies and the persecution of Trump are what led to his victory in the election.
In Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who describes himself as a ‘liberal’, has introduced unpopular socialist policies. According to the Fraser Institute, an independent and non-partisan research and educational organisation based in Canada, Trudeau’s new tax package gets just about everything wrong. It reduces the wrong taxes, shifts taxes temporarily rather than cutting them, does nothing to improve economic incentives, and burdens future taxpayers.
Negative impressions of Trudeau are steadily tracking upwards, from 44 per cent in 2022 to 59 per cent today. Seventy-seven per cent view him as a weak leader (Luxon beware) and many are critical of his management style and his handling of the economy. Trudeau has also been involved in several questionable cases over the years. Recent polls show his Liberal Party will be crushed by the Conservatives.
In Australia, Prime Minister Albanese has seen his personal ratings fall steadily since November last year. He staked his reputation largely on the Voice referendum: The referendum was lost when voters woke up to the consequences of what a yes vote would mean.
Australia has experienced the largest decline in real incomes of all the OECD countries. The cost of living relief the government has provided has been undercut by inflation, price increases and high interest rates plus diminished housing affordability. Peter Dutton, leader of the Liberal/National Coalition, has introduced a divisive populist terrain that Labor is finding very difficult to navigate.
The UK is now paying the price for electing a Labour Government: this is a minority government with a huge majority based on a very low voter turnout. The low turnout came about because the Conservatives made such a hash of things that after 14 years the electorate had had enough. The consequences of electing a tyrannical administration in its place are now becoming all too evident. A petition for a new election has garnered more than a million signatures.
Pensioners are being stripped of their home-heating allowance, farmers are going to the wall and the normal left-wing ideologue of tax and spend is very much in evidence. They are showing once again their ignorance when it comes to economics.
Lastly, here at home the current Government has been left with an unholy mess to sort out. Labour is grossly incompetent, the Greens are in another universe and the Māori Party represents a racist minority intent on looking after no one but themselves: the Māori elite.
There are some shortcomings with the current administration but allowing the triumvirate of the left back into power is simply not an option.
One need look no further than the countries cited above to learn that lesson.

..... and especially dangerous when too many voters are apathetic, ill informed or too emotive in their political instincts. i.e. far too many NZers today.
If only the good die young, what does that say about the enigmatic JC who is clearly still alive and writing drivel. I bet the sun still rises tomorrow in spite of his catastrophising.
If as you say this is drivel, it is pretty damned good, accurate drivel that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. So guess that I must be pretty stupid.
I certainly agree with much of JC's thoughts, but we also need to acknowledge that many voters,...and not just the uninformed quite like to vote for socialist (collectivist) parties at election time.
A glance at such left wing parties which have successfully achieved government, from NZ's 1930's Labour party, Britain's post ww2 Laniour party, the recent Australia Labor victory, plus the many socialist or communist governments often formed in less than democratic environments, they all share one characteristic which is rarely demonstrated by right wing parties and governments.
Lefties stress the collective, remember Adern's "team of 5 million", and this cosy idea of being part of the "in" group is almost always closely attached the "the Plan", variously the "5 year plan" (loved by the communists), or,as in the case of Atlee's post WW2 surprise election, they introduced "the Planned society".
Whatever, the language, it always stresses, "planning", "targets", "moving forward together", etc., etc..
By contrast conservative governments, or even more liberal ones, stress the authority of the individual, and a need for individuals to work out their own futures. In other words, no matter how you phrase it, right wing governments always project a somewhat chaotic future...hardly the stuff of a bright new world!
Of course, as history reveals, as so eloquently portrayed in the book "Animal Farm", a "real" leftie likes to be in charge,...with suitable monetary recognition of the hard work & heavy responsibility so selflessly taken on! In reality, the heavy work just starting to put "the plan" into action, means ordinary workers may need (temporarily of course) to roll up their sleeves, get a bit muddy, etc. ...for the cause.
Unfortunately it seems inevitable that the rosy plan so optimistically promoted, may take a little longer, but don't blame Dear Leader, and for heaven's sake don't begrudge the special stores and flash dachas for the leaders,...and keep remembering,..."the plan", & that "we are all in this together"!
And the Hard Right still haven't got a plan,...why would you trust them?
