Miliband refuses to publish China-UK energy agreement
Ed Miliband is under increasing public pressure to explain why he will not publish the UK’s March 2025 energy cooperation agreement with China, despite facing questions in Parliament and before a select committee.
In the Commons, when challenged by Shadow Energy Secretary Claire Coutinho, he dismissed concerns as a “wacky conspiracy theory that she gets on the internet”. He later appeared before the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee, where he was asked repeatedly why the agreement has not been disclosed and refused to answer the question seventeen times.

Unite threatens early disaffiliation from Labour
Labour's biggest union backer has expedited its plan to disaffiliate with Labour, having launched a consultation with its members on the proposal this week. Net Zero Watch understands that growing concerns amongst members about the green agenda is being cited as one of the reasons for this push.
Tony Blair’s think tank accuses Miliband of pushing up energy bills
Tony Blair’s thinktank has accused Ed Miliband of driving up energy prices in a report criticising the government’s green policies and urging the energy secretary to drop some of them altogether, including almost completely decarbonising the electricity system by 2030.
Greedy wind farms gaming the system
Wind farm owners who earn huge payouts from gaming Britain’s energy system face a crackdown under new reforms proposed by power grid bosses. The National Energy System Operator warned that companies were deliberately clogging up Britain’s energy system to boost their own revenues. This is because wind farms can be paid to switch off when the grid becomes too congested to transport their power, allowing traders to game the system.
Centrica: UK electricity prices set to cost more than post-Ukraine invasion
New projections from Centrica show that the UK energy system will be one where, by 2030, the electricity price will be higher than it was at the peak of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The boss of Centrica has warned that one-third of the cost of that electricity will be wholesale costs and the other two-thirds will be system costs.

Macron blames renewables for Spain’s blackout
Emmanuel Macron has blamed Spain's mega-blackout, which plunged the country into darkness in April leaving five dead and millions without power, on the country's overreliance on renewable energy. The French President hit out at Spanish reliance on renewable energies, claiming 'no system can withstand such dependence' and 'Its problem is that it has a 100 per cent renewable energy model that its own domestic grid cannot support.
