Well, there you have it, Ngapuhi didn't cede sovereignty and the Council have now accepted and embraced such. C'Hipkins will be pleased - that his understanding about Maori sovereignty has now been confirmed, if only by a lesser entity than the Govt itself. I'm sure all the ratepayers and voters in the Far North will be delighted and that this will herald in a new era of success, social union & cohesion, and prosperity for all.

Then again, I believe Forrest Gump was correct, when reciting his mother's insightful view - "stupid is, as stupid does."

Now, with that established, what are our 'elected' or 'appointed' Govt politicians going to do about it? Mr Watts - Mr Luxon, we await your action?

Shane Jones has labelled an Act councillor’s complaints that a co-governance “takeover on steroids” was happening in the Far North as “perverse” and “pathetic”. > https://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/shane-jones-calls-far-north-councillor-davina-smolders-co-governance-complaints-perverse-pathetic/NII757OZLJE75EO2DNTGCJ4N4Y/

ACT will campaign to amend the Local Government Act to prohibit voting rights for unelected appointees on local council committees. > https://www.act.org.nz/news/act-to-campaign-on-reversing-democratic-backslide-in-local-government

Oh dear, Shane Jones has just lost more than a few votes as he appears to have gone over to the dark side as another fifth columnist.
