David Farrar: Gangs are organised crime, not a community group

The Herald reports:

Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick won’t say if she would have advised her MP Hūhana Lyndon against meeting with members of the Mongrel Mob.

After being asked the question twice, Swarbrick said she needed to “understand more of the context as to what has played out here”, although she earlier said having those types of engagements were important to understanding and addressing issues in the community.

Swarbrick’s co-leader Marama Davidson said meeting with the Mongrel Mob is “not a new thing” – she made headlines for meeting members in 2021 – and her party was “unapologetic” for engaging with marginalised communities.

The Greens see gangs as a marginalised community. The reality is they are the ones who create victims.

Gangs are not some sort of community group or extended whanau. They are organised crime. The crime is not incidental to their existence. It is their defining characteristic. Can you name a single gang in NZ that isn’t part of organised crime?

The Greens see them as a marginalised community, and think it is fine to go to gang headquarters and campaign for their votes. There is no empathy for the law abiding New Zealanders who have been killed, raped, bashed or robbed by gang members, because in the Greens world, the gang members are the real victims – of a patriarchal racist society.

David Farrar runs Curia Market Research, a specialist opinion polling and research agency, and the popular Kiwiblog where this article was sourced. He previously worked in the Parliament for eight years, serving two National Party Prime Ministers and three Opposition Leaders

Well, does she Chloe and co. also plan to visit all the gang members who are in jail . Discus with them why they ended up there and why 48% of prison inmates are Maori . and why NZ has a high recidivist rate .
About 70% of prison inmates are illiterate . How does that compare with gang members?. Anyway as a consequence of supposedly finding out about the low educational standards of these minority groups, will she recommend her party support Erica Standford's educational reforms to improve the basic education of the vulnerable like those in prison and in gangs ? Consequently helping them to get wholesome jobs that build up society .
I see only about 4% of the Green party support Standford's education reforms. That needs boosting .Come on Chloe. Get solutions to big problems not flirt with them. Gaynor

It's not only the harm the gangs cause through violence and drug supplying. They bring misery to every neighbourhood they occupy, by loud parties with bottles smashing and fighting in the street until the morning hours with utter contempt for those nearby who have to work after little sleep in order to pay taxes for the benefits those gang members and their gang families inevitably receive and to provide those gangs with subsidised housing. Marginalised? What rubbish. Gang mentality is deliberately passed down their generations, celebrating the savagery of their recent ancestors, fueled by manufactured resentment about colonisation.

The courting of gangs by the Maori Party is more sinister than portrayed. Gangs will be useful idiots as fighters and social destabilisers when it comes to the civil war that the Maori Party desires.
