SORRY, NATIONAL, YOU’VE LET US DOWN - by Val Davis
Sorry, National, you’ve let us down
For so many of us that’s a fact
So I’ll give my Electorate vote to you
But my Party vote to ACT
Sorry, Sir John, this time you’re wrong
To ask us for 2 Ticks Blue
We feel betrayed - we feel dismayed
We’re wondering what to do
Chris Luxon was given a mandate
To unite us all as one
One nation, one people, one government
Under one bright Kiwi sun
But he hasn’t fixed Jacinda’s crimes
He’s barely even tried
I’ve heard it said - his heart or head
Is on the other side
He promised to come out swinging
To get us 'Back on Track’
But that firm hand - that line in the sand
He sadly seems to lack
But it isn’t too late to put things right
For a strong Coalition pact
Electorate vote to National
Party vote to ACT
Exploit the maths with MMP
Make that our only mission
Party vote ACT (or NZ First)
Strengthen the coalition
Oh how I hate to feel disloyal
I’m true blue to my core
But if enough of us follow the strategy
It’ll be right for New Zealand I’m sure
To unite us all as one
One nation, one people, one government
Under one bright Kiwi sun
But he hasn’t fixed Jacinda’s crimes
He’s barely even tried
I’ve heard it said - his heart or head
Is on the other side
He promised to come out swinging
To get us 'Back on Track’
But that firm hand - that line in the sand
He sadly seems to lack
But it isn’t too late to put things right
For a strong Coalition pact
Electorate vote to National
Party vote to ACT
Exploit the maths with MMP
Make that our only mission
Party vote ACT (or NZ First)
Strengthen the coalition
Oh how I hate to feel disloyal
I’m true blue to my core
But if enough of us follow the strategy
It’ll be right for New Zealand I’m sure

Summed up perfectly, and in rhyme! Great job. 👏
Im not even sure national will get my electorate vote. Yes let us down !!!!
Never a truer rhyme!
You speak for the nation Val. Ulp!
An ex corporate who lives in an echo chamber. Reliant on a small circle of loyal advisors to shelter him from grassroots feedback. MP Chris Penk was fired for having the courage to sound the alarm while the compliant lied about the reality.
Methinks a huge swing to NZF/Act leaving Nats befuddled. Wot to do?...... d u m p ..... Luxflakes.... And .... keep yer promises..
Exactly the same for me - though I would use stronger language like " treacherous, perjury, sedition "
Take a look at the Guardian UK today at the article comparing Trump to the Nazi Third Reich , then substitute our Coalition for the current USA Republicans .
Is this also our 1933 ?
Guardian comparing Trump to Reich3...mmm won't catch Guardian comparing the EU , its darling, to anything bad. Sums up The Guardian.
The Guardian would be pleased with a Labour, Green, TPM govt in NZ (woops Aotearoa) . It would fit that paper's worldview perfectly within the globalist ''progressive'' white guilt gend er bender framework.
Am I the only one, but with the advent of MMP, and across the following years, we have always had 2 political parties front and center, whilst the "minnows" languish on the side, the MSM always lead about 2 parties, the minnows get the lesser column inches. people are now saying - "who do we vote for" ?
The others do not seem to be reliable!
Oh how the Country suffers, we can not get the Name of the Nation right, if we can not do that - the "who do we cast our vote for"?
But would even the Guardian approve of the racist, apartheid policies of a Labour, Green, TPM govt ?
1933 ? We sure have the Goebbels treatment from all our public servants
The Guardian would frame them as restoring ''indigenous rights'' as they ''never ceded sovereignty''. White guilt. Several months ago the paper published an article by a young NZ woman working in Norwich. It was about the attraction of working in the UK for expats etc. I read it. It spoke of diversity in UK and the wonderfulness of London etc with all its cultures. Then I realised why it passed the screening test. The writer took a swipe at NZ contrasting it with the recognition and revival of Maori language and the NZ govts ''attacks on Maori''. Racism is OK for The Guardian when it is framed as resistance and so forth. Non-whites can't be racist. A friend of mine also in journalism for decades worked on the FT until recently. He said almost daily they got DEI emails and the editorial staff were very much on board and if you were not you kept your head down and shut up.
Note: the guardian uses the sub category title of New Zealand/aotearoa.
It never refers to any other country with a double banger name. Why’s that?
Some would say the guardian is imposing left wing imperialism on New Zealanders and they wont be wrong. Who gave the guardian, a mere news organisation, the right to interfere with a sovereign nation’s identity?
