Pee Kay: You couldn’t make this sh-t up!

You couldn’t make this sh-t up but here is a legitimate(?) New Zealand political party wanting to legislate for “personhood for whales”!!! These clowns that call themselves the Green Party are paid near $300,000 PA by you and me and this is what they give us in return!

This the same political party that one of its MP’s, when a Wellington City councillor, was the instigator of scrapping a $391 million wastewater renewal plan in favour of a $226 million cycleway network!

Dr Bryce Edwards: The Green Party’s culture war quagmire

In my last column, I laid out the sorry state of the Green Party as 2026 kicks off. Scandals piled up, staff jumped ship, polls slid south, and the leadership clung to excuses about algorithms and the Coalition Government being responsible for turning people off the Greens. All this despite a coalition in chaos and a Labour Party that’s barely visible.

The symptoms are clear, but what’s the disease? Today, I’m digging into the deeper mess: a party bogged down in culture wars and identity politics that’s pushed aside its environmental roots and failed to connect with the voters who matter most. It’s a trap of their own making, one that’s left them looking like a middle-class club more interested in pronouns and Palestine than power bills and polluted rivers.

Bob McCoskrie: Green Party goes from bad to worse

If you thought standards of dress were declining in Parliament, wait until you see and hear the newest Member of Parliament. It had to be a Green MP eh

You’ve got to feel sorry for the Green Party. They’ve had it tough.

They had to get rid of Elizabeth Kerekere - which wasn’t really a loss – due to allegations of bullying.

John McLean: It's unseemly (& not easy), bein Green

A snapshot of New Zealand’s former environmental political party

In May 2022, the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand changed its rules to require one of its co-leaders to be female and the other to be “of any gender”, with one of them needing to have Maori ancestry. The Greens’ co-leaders are currently Chlöe Swarbrick and Marama Davidson, who between them appear to tick the boxes.

It’s devilishly difficult to keep abreast of the rapidly shifting Greens. My Greens snippets must therefore be snappy, because new weeds sprout fast and furious in the Greens’ rambling garden. Here goes…

Bruce Cotterill: Green Party's identity crisis should be cause for a rebrand

Most of us believe, or would like to believe, that those who put their hands up for public office do so with the intention of seeking something better for the people they represent and the country as a whole.

We are currently seeing an episode play out, almost daily, which suggests that such lofty ideals do not necessarily ring true

Chris Lynch: Green Party faces pressure to release investigation report on Darleen Tana

The Green Party has called for Darleen Tana’s resignation from Parliament following the conclusion of an independent investigation into her conduct.

Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick said, “Darleen’s conduct has fallen far short of the expectations Marama and I have of our caucus, and of the values the Green Party upholds.”

The request came after the Green Party Caucus reviewed the investigation report, received on Friday, 5 July. Swarbrick said,

JC: The Left Is on the Cusp of…

Disappointment, discomfort, disharmony, dishonour, despondency, despair, demoralisation, delusion – any or all of those words could apply to their present situation. They could not form a reputable and well-respected government and are increasingly mired in a mess of their own making. The alleged hijinks of the Maori Party have destroyed any credence the public might have had in a government of the left. Perception is everything and, whatever the outcome of the investigations into the alleged wrongdoing, a stench will linger.

Alistair Boyce: Why ‘Golriz’ Matters

The Golriz Ghahraman story is not just about Golriz and certainly not about the obvious deflection of mental health and wider parliamentary culture. The saga is a snapshot in time, emblematic of a failing, vacuous Green party, an exposure of a false, self-righteous ideology.

I suspect NZ political history will eventually point to the event as a significant and poignant marker of the demise of social justice progressivism based on identity politics. Failed, over-reaching ideology succumbing to conservative reality, just like the 2023 election. So, while Golriz has done the right thing and resigned the issues raised still require ongoing scrutiny, something you will not find in mainstream media (MSM).

JC: The Left Are in a Buggers Muddle

Labour, Greens and the Maori Party all need to shut their traps, cease their maniacal rhetoric and crawl back into their respective caves to work out what they stand for. If they keep standing for what they espoused before the election they will find themselves sitting on the Opposition benches for some time to come. Looking like you’re in it for your own self-interest is no way to win over the majority of voters. Unlike these political entities, Kiwis on the whole are a centrist bunch who are against most forms of radicalism.

Mike Hosking: Tamatha Paul shouldn't pick and choose

Not that I was aware of it on the night, but we asked Tamatha Paul to have a chat with us about her victory in the Wellington Central electorate.

She said no, based on some thinking within the Green Party that I say stuff they don't like.

Derek Mackie: Free-thinking lifeform emerges from the thick Green swamp

Breaking News!!!

An extraordinary story has just leaked out of the Green Party’s Pure-and-Organic Research Centre or PORC (pron. pork) in Wellington, which was allegedly set up to promote sustainability and eco-friendly practices.

The location of this facility is closely guarded by the Greens who don’t want undesirables like - meat and dairy eaters, petrol/diesel drivers, farmers, women's rights campaigners, free speech advocates, centre-right “extremists”, old school journalists - to name but a few, turning up and contaminating their planet-saving discoveries.
To date, none of which have resulted in any meaningful environmental advances whatsoever.

Bob Jones: The seedy Green Party

One universal truth about taxation is everyone’s in favour of taxing others but can readily supply reasons why they themselves should be exempt.

Thus the current NZ Green Party, as seedy a mob who have ever graced our Parliamentary benches, have now abandoned Green issues in their manifesto and instead called for wealth taxes, despite the overwhelming evidence of the disastrous consequences of such measures from abroad.
