Clive Bibby: Triumph over adversity - Who would have thought

If nothing else is learned from Donald Trump’s impressive comeback election victory, the overriding takeaway is that if your case is based on the truth, it will ultimately prevail.

In spite of the false charges laid during repeated attempts to destroy him politically, emotionally and physically, Trump has remained true to himself.

In the end, his fight against the tyranny and corruption of the establishment was vindicated in a way that few before him have achieved.

Trump never attempted to be anything other than the champion of the common man but by doing so has single-handedly rewritten the political playbook in the US and probably influenced changed loyalties in other countries of the free world where the political framework has been turned on its head.

We now see political parties that had been dominated by traditional classes within society changing sides in a mass upheaval of the political landscape.

So, no surprise then that the Republican Party, once the sole preserve of the rich and famous white upper class now being replaced by a mixture of non graduate, Black, Hispanic, middle income workers who once swore allegiance to the Democratic Party.

Trump has created a movement, the likes of which we have not seen since Martin Luther King led the charge against racism in America.

While it is too early to say that he has “ drained the swamp” as he promised to do, you might as well admit that the corrupt remnants of the ruling classes are about to get their marching orders.

My guess is that his nominations for key cabinet posts will be confirmed before he takes office which will leave the pathway clear for a complete reversal of policies that have served only a minority of self appointed corrupt politicians.

Their time in the sun is over.

Trump has earned the right to become the most influential political figure at home and on the World stage since Winston Churchill.

Let’s hope those he has chosen to help bring about peace and prosperity to a troubled world are up to the task.

His election as the 47th President of the United States heralds a different leadership style than his first term in office.

This time, he is backed by those he knows he can trust and with control of all three houses of government anything is possible.

Experience in government is a wonderful thing and it will be the one ingredient he now has that he lacked in his first term.

No more will he have to battle threats to his incumbency from within his own party or the constant attacks about his legitimacy or whether he had committed  crimes while in office.

Fortunately the accusers have been found out as false prophets and are now struggling to survive in a world that no longer recognises their relevance.

It would be funny to watch them squirm if we did not have better things to do.

Good riddance l say.

I believe we are about to witness the dawn of a new era.

History will record it as the day when the tide changed for the better.

We should all want to be part of the effect it will have on those who need it most.

I will be eighty years old in a few days and had given up hope of ever seeing  a time like this.

Bring it on.

Long ago the Dems were the equivalent of the Reps and vice versa. It is looking like there may be a similar change over happening. The Dems moving into being for the moneyed elite, the Reps for the working class.

I am tempted to suggest Mr Bibby is suffering from dementia but that would be to play the man not the ball. I will restrict myself to accusing him of wilfully ignoring facts. Facts like the high number of Trump's appointees in his first term who wound up in jail, or disgrace, or both, through their corrupt dealings while in office. To say nothing of Trump's corruption in channeling Government money into his own businesses. But the most immediate fact is that Trump‘s new team refuses to sign the statutory ethics agreements required to formally begin the transition process. The key outcome is that Trump's nominees for federal office can't get FBI security clearances, and we all know how that played out with Gaetz. The world is therefore left to speculate about what corruption remains to be uncovered in the back-stories of the other nominees. Never mind the fantasies manufactured by Mr Bibby from the perfectly normal operations of the Biden administration. Focus on the deliberate refusal of the incoming administration to comply with a law deliberately framed to expose corruption in those nominated for high office. The very refusal by a Government to comply with that law is corrupt, and they haven't even been sworn into office yet.

'Trump never attempted to be anything other than the champion of the common man' .... whom in private he despises.

Anon 3:14, Was the Afghanistan retreat the worst US military cost debacle ever OR as you opine a "perfectly normal operation of the Biden administration?

And If I can add to the comment posted by Anon @3:14PM 25.11.24 - which one could "ask and the source of your data is.." and who ever you are - please add to your "so called list all the Multi Monied people across America"- who can be classified as either Republican and/or Democrat, who will provide "funds for political purposes to the Party of the moment, especially if there is monetary gain to had". Oh and very few aid & abet any social agendas within/across America - irrespective of Ethnicity or Religion. On I know of "splashes the cash in Africa"- for little gain.
Why do I place this before you - they loath Donald Trump, as now he has gained the Presidency, they see their Political gains "going down the gurgler". And that "hurts the bottom line".
Well stated Clive, but sadly (as you will see with one posted comment) here In New Zealand we have a serious issue with "Trump Derangement Syndrome", which has also shown up within posted comments, under article on the Website - that related to the recent Presidential primaries & election.
It is a pity that our media did not show "the real Kamala Harris and why American's turned away from her".
Oh and to that person- Anon, it is well documented in America regarding the corruptive practices of the Biden Family (even after the 2020 election), which go back many years and Joe nor Family have NEVER been prosecuted for same. Strange that!

Well said Clive. This was the most consequential election in our life time. It seriously stopped the Marxist Revolution in its tracks. Trump proved to have the courage of a lion and rewrote the book on resilience. The American voters are a just people and have overwhelmingly endorsed his leadership and has probably saved our strongest ally from self destruction.

Well Clive, for someone who takes offense to suggestions that you are a Trump admirer (“Nothing could be further from the truth”) this certainly seems to indicate that you hold him in rather high regard. But then, admittedly, you do have him playing second fiddle to Churchill.
Independent historians rate Trump’s first presidency as the worst ever, but I have a feeling that this one will be worse. Certainly, his cabinet selection process hardly give cause for confidence. What I can’t figure out is if he is destined for such greatness, how come this has so escaped the American people, who have elected him with a popular vote majority of just 1.6 percent, and that against a ‘black’ woman. It was historically one of the closest elections in the last hundred years, with him getting less than 50% of the total votes. Obviously Clive, you have a better handle on Trump than the American people.
Yes, Trump’s a skilled demagogue and democracy has spoken, but morally, intellectually and temperament he’s entirely unsuited to the office to which he has been elected. But then, I could be wrong. I hope so.

I find it difficult to take seriously people who throw rocks at my comments while hiding behind the cloak of anonymity. Why do they expect me to respond when l can’t determine whether their negative assaults are fair comment or just the normal drivel from those suffering from Trump derangement syndrome?
Rather cowardly, don’t you think

“Independent historians” - give me a break!
And what about the legitimacy of this Presidency - you can’t deny that one either given he won the popular vote and swept all the “blue wall” states in such a convincing manner.
You are just like the rest of the Trump haters - in total denial and a liar by suggesting you hope to be proven wrong. Given your past record of vociferous “anti trump” rants, nobody is buying that one.

There's a common error made when people refer to Trump Derangement Syndrome. What they really mean is Trump's Derangement syndrome, a condition extensively documented by those whose who are familiar with the matter, including a number of Trump's closest advisers and members of his first cabinet. It started immediately he was sworn in to office the first time around with the "alternative facts" debacle over the size of his inauguration crowd, and has grown exponentially from there. If anyone chooses to believe Trump's deranged truth, they are of course, perfectly entitled to do so. But that doesn't make them right.

And by the way Mr Bibby, why do you have an issue with anonymity? Why should a person's name have any bearing on the value of their opinions, particularly when those opinions are simply reiterating the historical record. I could give you any name under the sun but it would not change the message. You are fond of personal attacks on those who call out your puffery but rather slower to coherantly defend the ideas you promote. Offering a name would simply give you the excuse to sharpen your vitriol. and that's not very useful if you are trying to win an argument in a public arena.

You flatter yourself expecting me to react to those examples of Trump’s initial poor choices but l will because most were the result of inexperience. That’s a fact.
His strength and attraction is that he isn’t a career politician.
My guess is that most of his supporters vote for him because he is not bound by party loyalties and as such is able to accomplish things others can’t.
He is his own man.
And for what it is worth, l don’t have a problem with anonymity. The fact that l am bothering to reply to your cowardly rubbish proves that.
Unless you’ve got something better to add do us a favour and crawl back under your rock.
