On Tuesday, March 10th, an EF-1 tornado destroyed the Dunns Bridge Solar I and II facilities owned by the Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO). The facilities, located outside of Wheaton, Indiana, had 2.4 million solar panels, totaling 700 megawatts (MW) of power capacity, and reportedly cost $1 billion to construct—a little over $1,400

Francis Menton: New Record Set For Deaths From Climate And Weather Disasters
Labels: Climate change, Extreme Weather, Francis MentonIf you read left-wing media sources, and believe anything they say, you might think that the recent record has something to do with a large and growing number of deaths. Recent articles in sources like CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, and CBS News all explicitly claim that climate change is making weather events “deadlier,” or leading to increasing numbers of deaths, or some variation of that same message. I’m sure if you checked thirty such “mainstream” news sources over the past year, all thirty of them would have pieces parroting that same narrative.

Chris Morrison: Climate Bombshell - New Evidence Reveals 30 Year Global Drop in Hurricane Frequency and Power
Labels: Attribution studies, Chris Morrison, Climate alarmism, Cyclones, Extreme Weather, Hurricanes, Propaganda, The Science, TyphoonsLast month a small but powerful cyclone named Chido made landfall in Mayotte before sweeping into Mozambique, causing considerable damage and leading to the loss of around 100 lives. Days after the tragedy, the Green Blob-funded Carbon Brief noted that scientists have “long suggested” that climate change is making cyclones worse in the region, while Blob-funded World Weather Attribution (WWA) at Imperial College London made a near-instant and curiously precise estimate that a Chido-like cyclone was about 40% more likely to happen in 2024 than during the pre-industrial age.

Ian Bradford: One explanation for the excess rain, mostly in the North Island, and a look back in history.
Labels: Climate change, Cyclone Gabrielle, Extreme Weather, Ian BradfordMuch worse weather events occurred back in history.
Much has been made of Cyclone Gabrielle and the rain and flooding, mostly in the North Island, by the Labour Government. This has been reflected in the basically government controlled news media. Both the cyclone and the rain are weather events - not climate.
Any reasonable person would think that the Tongan eruption putting huge amounts of water vapour into the atmosphere and all the rain that has followed is no coincidence. I cannot recall any deluge, such as we have seen for the past few months, in my lifetime.

Karl du Fresne: Don't mention Hunga Tonga
Labels: Extreme Weather, Karl du FresneFor months the country has felt as if it’s under a state of siege – not from a hostile foreign power, but from extreme weather. This week, the north of the country has been pummelled again by torrential rain, gale-force winds and high seas. RNZ reported this morning that more heavy rain warnings had been issued for the west coast of the North Island and the top of the South.
But please, whatever you do, don’t mention Hunga Tonga.

Barry Brill: Weather Is Not Becoming More Extreme!
Labels: Barry Brill, Climate alarmism, Extreme Weather, National PartyI have recently been very critical of Christopher Luxon for preferring faith to reason in weather-causation pronouncements he made as leader of a political party.
National weather records are easily obtainable
and are no further away than Google or ChatGPK. But many commentators (not just
politicians) like to make sweeping assertions that are the direct antithesis of
this official data. They calculate that the constant repetition of a lie will
make others assume it to be true.
The most common examples of this genre are
claims that “weather extremes have been worse in recent years, because of
climate change”. Lobbyists claim that the whole world is seeing record
temperatures and unprecedented flooding, as well as more cyclones and
tornadoes.
These claims are disproved outright by the historical weather data published by The State Climate Extremes Committee (SCEC) of USA. The USA has the world’s best historical weather series, and the SCEC was established in 2006 to ensure the data was not politicised.
