Brendan O'Neill: Greta’s flotilla has exposed the suicidal stupidity of Islamo-leftism
Labels: Brendan O'Neill, Dad's Army, Greta ThunbergRemember when leftists chanted, ‘Yemen, Yemen, make us proud / Turn another ship around!’, goading the medieval anti-Semites of the Houthi movement to bomb merchant ships in the Red Sea? Well, now those same people are blubbing like babies because Israel allegedly pumped some ABBA on to their flotilla of boats heading to Gaza. So it’s fine for a racist militia to rain missiles on the hard-grafting men of merchant ships, but heaven forbid that the Jewish State subject the lily-handed activist class to a bit of ‘Dancing Queen’. Bombing commercial ships is resistance – making the West’s privileged, preening haters of Israel listen to some Seventies bangers is a war crime.

Brendan O'Neill: Good riddance to Greta’s Gaza ship of fools
Labels: Brendan O'Neill, Gaza, Greta Thunberg, Israel, Seafaring stuntThis narcissistic stunt summed up the fake virtue and lazy theatrics of modern activism.
So the seafaring stunt is over. The ship of narcissists has been intercepted. Greta Thunberg and her gaggle of self-righteous keffiyeh clowns have been thwarted. They’re on their way, not to Gaza, but to the Israeli port city of Ashdod. One envisions the Med ringing out with wails of ‘HOW DARE YOU’ as Greta and her muppet apostles berate Israel for foiling their messianic mission to save the people of Gaza from evil.

Matua Kahurangi: Te Pāti Māori: Too busy crying over Gaza to care about murdered Māori kids
Labels: Greta Thunberg, Israeli navy, Maori children, Matua Kahurangi, Te Pati MaoriWhen Te Pāti Māori co-leaders Debbie Ngarewa-Packer and Rawiri Waititi were suspended from Parliament for 21 days last week, I was looking forward to the break. A full three weeks without the two scribble-faced co-offenders staging another headline-grabbing tantrum sounded like bliss. Unfortunately, the New Zealand media just couldn’t help themselves. Once again, these two were centre stage, this time inserting themselves into an international incident like they’re running the United Nations.

Wendy Geus: Greta's Aid will get through, thanks to the new Gaza Humanitarian Foundation
Labels: Gaza, Greta Thunberg, Wendy GeusI wrote recently how the PM dislikes taking a stand on issues, until he sees how the land lies. That may have be a better approach before he came out guns blazing reprimanding the Israel Defence Force, who stopped activist Greta's passage to Gaza to deliver her Aid, as he appears to have got his facts muddled.

Brendan O"Neill: Greta Thunberg’s moral siege of Israel
Labels: Brendan O"Neill, Gaza, Greta Thunberg, Hamas, IsraelWhy isn’t Greta Thunberg sailing an aid ship to Sudan? Things are dire there. Two years of war have given rise to ‘catastrophic hunger levels’. The horrors dwarf ‘those in Ukraine, Gaza and Somalia combined’, reports Deutsche Welle. And yet the benighted Sudanese have failed to win the favour of the world’s best known eco-brat. Her boat is destined not for Africa but for the only strip of land that matters to the virtuous of the West: Gaza.

Peter Murphy: Animosity against Jews demonstrates leftist icon Greta Thunberg’s extremism
Labels: Anti-Israel, Greta Thunberg, Hamas, Peter MurphyGreta Thunberg, once the darling of the climate change movement, has revealed herself as virulently anti-Israel, which should make her a pariah in any legitimate social or political cause. Since the October 2023 Hamas slaughter of Israeli civilians, including children and infants, Thunberg, now 21 years old, has called for “crushing Zionism” and repeatedly accused Israel of “genocide.”

Duggan Flanakin: Greta versus the volcano
Labels: Duggan Flanakin, Greta Thunberg, Volcano eruptionsAs America’s “greenest” President (Joe Biden) fades into the sunset, one is reminded of the 1990 Tom Hanks blockbuster Joe Versus the Volcano. Our salvation may be near.
In the movie, Joe Banks (Hanks) is told by a doctor he is dying. He is then duped by an unscrupulous billionaire into throwing himself into a volcano. The billionaire (and crony of the lying doctor) needs a sucker to appease the gods of the native Pacific islanders who control access to a mineral essential for manufacturing superconductors.

Brendan O'Neill: Greta’s class war
Labels: Brendan O'Neill, Green ideology, Greta Thunberg, ProtestsThe green ideology is the enemy of working people.
It was like a case study in indifference. There was privileged Gen Zer Greta Thunberg and other Euro eco-brats smiling and flicking peace signs as they called on the Dutch government to stop subsidising fossil-fuel companies. Meanwhile, the Dutch people, very few of whom are the offspring of opera singers with the ear of the world media, are suffering one of the largest spikes in energy prices in all of Europe. Their bills are through the roof. They’re reeling from the ‘pain of high energy costs’, as some in the media describe it. And yet in sweeps giggling Greta and her barmy eco-army to agitate for less government backing for energy production, which would likely hike the price even more.

Brendan O'Neill: The tyrannical cult of Greta Thunberg
Labels: Brendan O'Neill, Greta ThunbergHow the political elites exploited Greta’s moral immaturity to impose their punishing eco-agenda.
This week Greta Thunberg turned 21. Yes, the diminutive doom-monger is a full-on grown-up now. The pint-sized predictor of End Times has passed the final threshold of adulthood. Once the world’s best-known petulant teen, never knowingly appearing in public without wearing the scowl of the self-righteous youth, Ms Thunberg has reached the full age of majority. She’s so old she could legally get pissed in America if she wants. Though that seems unlikely, given she once said she ‘would never go out drinking’: ‘I would never do anything… stupid.’ Her birthday party must have been a riot.

Derek Mackie: Get a grip, Greta!
Labels: Derek Mackie, Greta Thunberg, satireGreta Dumbyrd is the darling of the thick, impenetrable, noxious Greens; reverently nick-named Greta the Great by her adoring eco-fanatics, keen to show off their elementary anagram skills. To the rest of human-kind, on the receiving end of her withering environmental tongue lashings, she is simply called Greta the Grater, reflecting her abrasive social style and one-dimensional cutting manner.
Greta was tired of preaching from her "progressive" pulpit to pale, stale old men at Climate Conferences every year.
They paid lip-service to her perfectly reasonable demands to immediately close down all oil and gas fields, all fossil fuel power stations, and nuclear ones to boot, as well as ban all BBQ gas bottles and cigarette lighters, to save the Planet from an inferno of Dante-istic proportions.
In response to her ridiculously easy directives they wriggled and squirmed and suggested they do it from 2030…then 2035…or maybe just a bit longer.

Brendan O'Neill: Greta Thunberg and Gen Z’s irrational hatred for Israel
Labels: Brendan O'Neill, Greta Thunberg, Hatred for IsraelThe trendy contempt for the Jewish State is a gross betrayal of Enlightenment values.
Can we criticise Greta Thunberg now? For a time, anyone who raised even the mildest objection to the pint-sized prophetess of doom risked being damned as a bully. Surely this moratorium on Greta-scepticism will end following her platforming – to use woke lingo – of an activist with very iffy views. An activist who has trivialised the Holocaust and seems pretty chilled about Hamas’s pogrom of 7 October. Calling out Greta for her fact-lite blather about the planet being ‘on fire’ may have been forbidden – pulling her up for hanging out with Holocaust relativists must not be.

Lushington D. Brady: Sweden Votes to Make Greta Cry
Labels: Energy policy U-turn, Greta Thunberg, Lushington D. Brady, Scandinavian countriesA rare outbreak of sanity on energy
The left just love Scandinavian countries. Mostly because they fondly imagine, no matter how many times Scandinavian leaders try to correct them, that Scandinavian countries are ‘socialist’. But leftists fall conspicuously silent about their beloved Scandinavian countries whenever Scandinavian countries do such inconvenient things as slashing immigration, booting out Muslim “asylum seekers” and asserting that Islam is incompatible with Scandinavian values.
And when Scandinavians turn their backs on “Net Zero”, you better believe the left doesn’t want to know about it.

Brendan O'Neill: Greta and the green war on the working class
Labels: Brendan O'Neill, Green politics, Greta Thunberg, Protests, Saving the planetEvery act of green activism seems designed to make life harder for working people.
Picture the daughter of an opera singer preventing working-class men from doing their jobs. A young woman so well-connected that she probably has presidents on speed-dial physically blocking truck drivers from doing what they do. A child of privilege gathering with her similarly comfortable pals to stop working people from working.

Karl du Fresne: On Greta Thunberg and the fawning media
Labels: Climate scaremongering, COP26, Greta Thunberg, Karl du Fresne
The media love affair with Greta Thunberg continues unabated. If anything it has become even more frenzied. COP-26 has given the diminutive, garrulous Swede a platform where she commands as much attention as presidents and prime ministers.
And it seems she has an understudy from New Zealand: a young woman named India Logan-Riley, who claims to speak for indigenous communities.
Logan-Riley, who is described as Maori, is part of the official programme in Glasgow. In her address at the opening ceremony she used highly emotive rhetoric reminiscent of Thunberg. “Six years ago I spoke these stories into this space and every year since I have repeated the same words – wildfires, sea level rise, wildfires, suffering, sea level rise, biodiversity loss, sea level rise.

James Delingpole: Donald Trump Vs Greta and the Prophets of Doom
Labels: Greta Thunberg, James Delingpole, President Trump, Scaremongering
“We must reject the perennial prophets of doom and their
predictions of the apocalypse,” declared President Trump on Tuesday at the
World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
Gosh, what 17-year old pig-tailed school drop out could he
possibly have meant by that?
Earlier in the day, Greta Thunberg had delivered her usual
cheery message of doom and gloom – “Pretty
much nothing has been done” – to the assembled globalist elite.
But President Trump wasn’t having any of this apocalyptic
nonsense. Not one bit.
“This is not a time for pessimists. It is a time for
optimism,” he declared.

James Delingpole: Greta the Teenage Climate Puppet Goes Full Marxist
Labels: Climate change propaganda, Greta Thunberg, James DelingpoleGreta Thunberg the teenage Climate Puppet has gone full Marxist.
In her latest public statement, she says that the ‘climate crisis is not just about the environment’:
It is a crisis of human rights, of justice, and of political will. Colonial, racist, and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fuelled it. We need to dismantle them all.

Karl du Fresne: Peak craziness reconsidered
Labels: Greta Thunberg, Justin Trudeau, Karl du Fresne, Robyn MalcolmI wrote a column a few weeks ago suggesting we had reached peak craziness. Alas, I was wrong.
Exhibit A: One morning last week I heard the actress Robyn Malcolm assert on Morning Report that the role of Gandalf in the proposed Amazon TV production of The Lord of the Rings should be played by a woman. And not just any type of woman, but specifically by a kuia (or as she put it tautologically, “an old Maori kuia”).
