Chris Luxon & National are doing their best to be a good imitation of the Labour Party. That’s the only thing they have a talent for these days. They agree on so many things it’s scary!
Recently, bullying one of their MPs into holding a particular opinion on man-made climate change and prescribing a reading list to ensure they comply. No, this isn’t Communist Russia…or the Green Party National Conference.
Instead, Chris should be backing them up and demanding that the Minister for Climate Change supports his nonsensical policies with actual evidence….of which there is none!
And National’s latest idea? Partaking in that quaint socialist concept of doling out massive state benefits to people who don’t really need them, instead of focusing on core conservative policies like sound economic management and eradicating wasteful and inefficient public spending.
They’re apparently going to rein in payments to contractors by $400 million - good start….but then give it back out as a child benefit!!!
Luxon seems to be a closet socialist and is finally coming out. To those of us who have followed his brief and unremarkable political career, this is no great surprise. To the average National voter though, it must be deeply troubling....you would hope.
If he continues along this path I suspect we will be bidding a welcome farewell to this confused specimen who clearly has political identity issues. Right, Left or non-binary? Who the hell knows, least of all, Chris!
With the election in 6 months time and a potential end to his career in government looming, I’ve written an epitaph which sums up some of Chris' "greatest achievements".
It’s based on the nursery rhyme, Solomon Grundy, so it’s pitched at the average intellectual level of a parliamentary debate, and is squeezed into an imaginary week, reflecting Chris’ probable short length of tenure.
Chris Luxon & sundry,
Flew in on a Monday,
Lauded vaccine mandates on Tuesday,
And abused human rights willingly,
Elected leader on Wednesday,
No experience necessary,
Condemned protestors on Thursday,
With contempt but no empathy,
Backed Maori governance on Friday,
Then promoted democracy,
Declared man-made cyclones on Saturday,
Mistaking weather for climatology,
Lost election on Sunday,
Out of touch with reality,
And that was the end,
Of Chris Luxon & sundry.

Yes indeed; a total twit. Could today’s poll presage a massive swing to ACTin the offing? The incredible similarity between the National and Labour policies must indicate so. Surely?
Lack Lustre Luxon did neither himself nor the party any good with this betrayal.
