David Farrar: Hipkins tells the truth

In this interview, Chris Hipkins states that the money given to councils for Three Waters was compensation for taking water assets off Councils, the exact opposite of what Nanaia Mahuta said.

David Farrar runs Curia Market Research, a specialist opinion polling and research agency, and the popular Kiwiblog where this article was sourced. He previously worked in the Parliament for eight years, serving two National Party Prime Ministers and three Opposition Leaders.

Duuuu, Nanaia said she wasn’t taking water assets away from councils, she’s a politician and I believe her 👍
Chippy is a politician and therefore I believe him, and he said he was paying councils for taking their water assets.
They weren’t taking the assets they were paying for them , with your and my taxes. So they are both correct ✅
It’s not stealing if you pay for stuff with other peoples money.

Anon 2.19: It comes down to the semantics of 'ownership'. Councils would've still 'owned' the water assets as they would've remained on their books (NM), but they wouldn't have 'owned' the water assets as they wouldn't have had control of those assets (CH).

Typical doublethink from the last unlamented administration, which in this context amounted to daylight robbery of local body assets by the national (small 'n') government.
