As our community matures and does away with former prejudices towards minority groups we previously chose to ignore, our association with people who have been regarded as outcasts or worse - even criminals, improves to the extent that we are bending over backwards in order to include them in every aspect of modern society. That is as it should be but unfortunately, for some Woke citizens, our steps in what the majority see as the right direction will never be enough.
In fact we are now faced with a small group who are claiming equal rights to participate in sports and other activities where they enjoy physical advantages that allow them to compete on a playing field that is no longer level.
As a result we are being forced to defend the innocent competitors who have traditionally achieved success on merit alone.
It should not be happening this way.
A person’s biological status on their birth certificate should be the only factor determining which team of physically similar athletes we chose to join.
That is the only way that competitions will remain performance based rather than a gerrymandered system that satisfies only those who want to dominate a sport by using a physical advantage they have over fellow competitors.
This debate as to whether or not Trans athletes should be allowed to compete on equal footing with those of a different biological sex should never have been allowed to get as far as it has.
If the move to include Trans athletes in all sports where they have a clear physical advantage is not outlawed, world sport might as well forget about hosting any more Olympic Games.
We have already seen how an unfair advantage through use of a banned drug can result in world record performances. Thankfully Ben Johnson’s Olympic Gold Medal winning sprint was short lived as soon as his blood swab after the race showed him to have competed with an unfair advantage.
Anyway, surely there is no need to repeat that agonising debacle when the facts suggests we can stop it before it goes any further.
And the best way to justify any banning of Trans participation is to base our decisions on what we know to be true.
1) Unlike Gay, Lesbian, Queer or Bi-Sexual people, Trans folk are “made not born” rather than the other way around.
As a more tolerant society we have no problem accepting the rest of the LGBQ community as equals - at least that is what should be happening. There will always be those who are openly intolerant of those we used to persecute but thankfully, most people have moved on.
2) Some of the advice being given and treatments offered to young people who express a concern about their gender should be seen as criminal activity given the unnecessary mutilation that is irreversible if the patient suddenly changes their mind about their personal preferences as they mature.
International studies (Cass Review et al) have shown that many of those who undergo gender changing surgery regret the decision before they mature but by then the damage has already been done and regrettably, it is too late.
We should not allow these “Dr Mengele” type operators to practice their horrific experiments on those who are more often than not confused about a whole host of things. It is part of growing up.
Don’t most juveniles go through a stage where they question everything about their personal status in the world and haven’t we all be vulnerable at a similar stage in our own lives to the influence of Quaks and False Prophets.
I know I was but thankfully I wasn’t being challenged to examine my own persona to anywhere near the extent that modern youth are.
I believe it is our responsibility to protect these young minds until they are mature enough to make rational decisions for themselves.
Those are the facts and we have a moral obligation not to ignore them.

Thank you, Clive, for this well-thought-out article. Perhaps men will become women when they can have babies, and women will impregnate them?

Agree.
I cannot believe that there was such an enormous proportion of gender confused people when I was growing up. Sure, always a few genuine souls with an issue, but the 'fabulousness' of it all now just makes a mockery of the genuine.
Like so many things. The trouble makers/rabble rousers/hysterical take over, the genuine people lose.
PS Check out etymology of 'hysterical'.
Once upon a time, what we now call ‘Transgenderism’ was listed in the APA’s Diagnostics and Statisticst Manual (the shrink profession’s ‘bible’) as ‘Gender Identity Disorder,’ and regarded as a treatable form of mental illness.
So what happened?
Postmodernists looking to deconstruct the formative family as the basic building block of Western society began telling us that: ‘gender is a social construct.’
The growing mainstreaming of this radical gender ideology has freed up mentally disordered individuals to ‘reconstruct’ their gender identity according to personal preference.
Under sustained pressure from gay and trans activists, more recent iterations of the DSM hold that someone claiming to be trapped in the wrong body is no longer mentally ill unless they ‘feel anxious’ about it.
The focus of therapy has now reoriented to helping the disordered individual come to terms with what they simply used to get told was self-delusion.
The burden of change has thus been shifted from the mentally ill individual to an unjustly judgemental society.
Since it’s now society’s fault that gender-pretenders experience psychological distress, the rest of us must pander to their delusions in the interests of ‘sensitivity’ and not hurting delicate feelings.
Most people see the world according to the dictates of procreative normality, meaning few of us are prepared to endorse something we know to be arrant nonsense.
Without government coercion, the best that gender-pretenders can expect from others is tolerance.
There are two genders: male and female.
Everything else is mental illness.
Once we start allowing the mentally ill to redefine reality for the rest of us, the lunatics really have taken over the asylum.
If someone told us: ‘humanity is a social construct’ and asserted they were a Martian because they felt like one, barring a few postmodernist idiots who’d agree with them, the general consensus would be they should see a therapist to help them come to terms with reality.
A man who has his willy surgically removed no more becomes a woman by so doing than having it reattached to his forehead will make him an elephant.
Nor does a woman sporting a surgically constructed artificial penis that inflates when she pushes on a reservoir of silicon embedded in her belly, become a man as a result of this medical procedure.
No matter how many times she uses her artificial penis to simulate penetrative intercourse with a female partner, gendered reality remains unaltered.
A stallion that has its testicles removed is a gelding, not a mare.
A bull that has its testicles removed is a steer, not a cow.
Place 10 men and 100 women on a desert island. Return 100 years later to find a thriving community of hundreds of men, women, and children of all ages.
Repeat the experiment with 10 men and 100 trannies. Return 100 years later to find a desert island and 110 male skeletons.
Gendered reality is indeed a stubborn and intractable matter.
If we encounter an anorexic woman weighing 25kg and literally at death's door who continues to insist that the mirror shows her Lizzo, we get her a therapist to help her come to terms with reality.
The equation is no different when it comes to a gender-pretender.
Psychologically, gender-pretenders are self-centred, narcissistic, attention-seeking children playing at dress-ups and make-believe.
Hence the spiteful, infantile, violent histrionics on display at Posie Parker’s Albert Park Women’s Rights event held to promote the right of biological women to have their own safe spaces.
How dare they try and take away my toys?
Gender pretenders will stay on ground zero for just as long as others are prepared to give them the attention they crave and go along with the charade.
These people clearly need a shrink, not puberty-blockers or a surgeon.
“Unlike Gay, Lesbian, Queer or Bi-Sexual people, Trans folk are “made not born” rather than the other way around”?
There is NO scientific evidence—zero, zip, nada—that people are born preferring their own gender sexually or batting for both teams.
If you think there is, put it up.
Not long ago the IRD rolled out dispensers for female sanitary products in male toilets at all its offices.
Maybe not unwarranted given that these days so many NZ males [sic] seem to have vaginas.
Totally agree, Clive. I would add that the people I blame are the spineless politicians who haven't the spine to say what they know to be true, and are more afraid of a tiny vociferous minority than the overwhelming majority who, it should be remembered, pay their salaries.
There is a test, Hazel - a karyogram.
However, this is rather time-consuming so forget about doing it as punters arrive at the bathroom door.
My comment to the article by Clive, is in response to the statement -
(quote) - "If the move to include Trans athletes in all sports where they have a clear physical advantage is not outlawed, world sport might as well forget about hosting any more Olympic Games. "(end quote) -"
That in the current day financial issues being faced by many Nations across the World, me thinks that this is the time - "to [forgo]/ forget about hosting "any (more) future Olympic Games.
This would then end the 'stupidity' of a Nation seeking to Host the Games, building Stadiums, at great financial ruin, which at the end of the Games, become desolate, decaying structures that the Host Nation had and/or has no idea/concept of what to do with them. This has been a factor over the past years, and can bee seen via YouTube with the film footage of this decline.
Thus would end the ridiculous saga of "men" (Trans) competing against Female and causing ongoing ridicule of the People & Sport involved.
Again Clive Bibby, "you have poked the Bear in the eye". It is a pity that the MSM across the World could not do the same thing and it is left to those genuine Female Athletes, to 'stand up and speak out', usually followed by copious amounts of Social Media backlash, more so from the Gay community.
