David Farrar: Why have the media ignored this outrageous speech?

Read the whole tweet (below). A Member of Parliament got up in the House and said the Government (which has a Cabinet which is 35% Māori) wants to exterminate Māori. Has the media reported this, with the editorials decrying such nonsensical and abusive language?

Imagine if an ACT MP said in the House that a Labour-led Government was trying to exterminate Europeans? It would be the major story in every news medium, with cries for them to resign.

This is why trust in media keeps falling. The blatant double standards.

David Farrar runs Curia Market Research, a specialist opinion polling and research agency, and the popular Kiwiblog where this article was sourced. He previously worked in the Parliament for eight years, serving two National Party Prime Ministers and three Opposition Leaders.

And good on the Deputy Prime Minister for calling this out.
If the media want to be saved by the public, start printing the news, not ignoring the racism of the Maori Party

The way things are unfolding, it sounds like an option to me.
Sorry, I retract the statement above.
It seems though words like exterminate and genocide are very popular these days.
It just depends on whom there applied to, as to there acceptance.

And these are the people who insist on partnership and co governance at least. Compare with the sentimnts expressed by those who provided the guidelines for the Treaty and the attitude of the misionaries and all involved at the time. i once had a tenant ex SA. She often said "You can thake the African out of the bush but you cannot take the bush out of the African." Applies to many native/vestigal native races.

Or maybe because sensible people, unlike yourself, recognise it for what it is - not worth any attention when there are more important things happening. Why are small marginally relevant people like yourself so hung up on what other media are reporting. Do you prefer not to cover serious news?

It is inflammatory comments that are unsubstantiated with evidence like this that should be investigated by the privileges committee. If evidence was provided, that it is a different circumstance.

Was Mr. Speaker asleep or taking a tea break?
Such language has no place within parliament and she should have been stopped and admonished after the first sentence.
Why wasn't she?

The Speaker allows wearing of cowboy hats, beachware rather than appropriate dress and a whole party to show support for Hamas by wearing Arab dress to the opening of Parliament. These are just some of the ways that demonstrate the once sedate House has been captured by casual customs that make one question the quality of some of its members.
