Alwyn Poole: Jacinda and Ashley ‘Saved’ Us …

Apart from the failures in Housing, Education and Health … the ‘success’ in dealing with Covid has us now where we are:

* 50th worldwide for total Covid cases (a remarkable achievement for a small, remote, highly vaccinated nation).

* 48th in the world for cases per million (again, an achievement against the odds).

* 129th in the world for deaths per million and rising fast. Very soon we will rise above the global average.

Labour needs to remind the nation why we put such massive pressure on our economy, inhibited the social and academic development of a generation of kids, and made pariahs (second-class citizens) of the health, education, police and FENZ career people.

The ‘opposition’ are asking for an inquiry into the economic effect of the Government’s actions (a Royal Commission no less).

It is essential to also ask about the health decisions that were made. Why, when the MOH knew that the vaccines would not work against Omicron (from April 2021), did they repeat the “safe and effective” message ad nauseam?

There should also be an examination of why the ‘opposition’ failed to ask so many key questions.

The education attendance figures of 22% in Term 1 of 2022 for decile 1 students is an indicator of the failure of our collective Government.

Alwyn Poole, a well-known figure in the New Zealand education system, he founded and was the head of Mt Hobson Middle School in Auckland for 18 years. This article was first published HERE

And aren't we all grateful to have rod jackson ( i am being sarcastic), who today advised that if there is another stronger variant, then nz will have no choice but to go back into lockdown 4. This would be to avoid people droping dead in the street he said. Good way to ensure 2 million leave the country instead of just the projected 1 million.
