‘Temper tantrum’ in NZ parliament disguised in the ‘cloak of culture’

Sky News host James Macpherson slams the “temper tantrum” in New Zealand parliament disguised in the “cloak of culture”.

A New Zealand parliament was suspended following a haka protest during a vote on a controversial Maori rights bill. “At best you would call that a temper tantrum wearing a cloak of culture to disguise it,”

Mr Macpherson told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “In reality, it’s a reminder of what’s at stake when you tear up the principle of equality.”

When I went to parluament and sat in the gallery I was told that you can't stand up or lean over or you will get removed. They have security guys and cameras watching constantly. And yet this farce was allowed? Why? Why were the police not called? I am totally sick of one set of rules for some and one set of rules for others.

Hana is still a child and behaves like one. Rawiri and Debbie are just terminally immature. Playing dress-ups and using aggression as their favourite form of communication is about as immature as it gets - childish “temper tantrums” indeed. They display Maori and their culture as being so many centuries behind the rest of the world: primitive, brutish, belligerent and patently lacking the intelligence necessary to engage in rational debate. What a desperately sad embarrassment they are to themselves.

I have every sympathy for the Speaker, but he must man-up and call for authority to expel the primitive brainless te Pate Maori. I call on the intelligent Maori citizens who must be writhing in embarrassment to speak up also.

The Aussies must be thinking, thank God the Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum went the way it did.

And we could write the script for you ignorant lefties Joanne. As Sky news said, it was a bill for equality which the left have no comeback for. So the Maori are supported in their stone age level responses. No debate, lefties and Maori know best. MC

My favorite so far was the AI version of the Parliament Haka and instead of Hana's face we have Nancy Pelosi. It is very funny and had me in hysterics.
That was X-ed, originating in The U.S.

Oh, and by the way Joanne, that is how you do it, you win votes by speaking to the people and to their values. Thank God for DS, for bringing about restoration of the Treaty obligations to both parties! You, as an Aussie puppy, if that's what you mean, have not any level of real understanding to participate with any real insight.

I actually don't know how the word puppy got in there but I'll leave it there, divine intervention I guess.

Yes that's right it's called democracy or are you terminally thick????

The discontented are the MAJORITY who have been duped and disrespected for 50 years by Maori racists.

Gawd, not hanging around here to be insulted by people hiding behind their anonymity. I thought the site was meant to block disrespectful posts.

If we deleted all 'disrespectful' posts there wouldn't be much going on in the way of conversation. I will delete posts that insult another commentator without adding anything at all to the discussion. It's not always an easy call to make but I abide by the maxim that living in a democracy requires one to grow a thick skin.
It's also worth bearing in mind that letting people who are obviously poorly informed or cognitively limited with respect to the issue at hand having enough rope to hang themselves can be very useful in advancing one's case!

Actually surprised to be leaving voluntarily. Got banned from the NZCPR Fb page last year. So you may be in luck. Ra ra ra for Free Speech.....

Joanna, I am awfully sorry to read this. I certainly had nothing to do with your being banned at any time.
A moderator invariably finds him/herself the meat in the sandwich between those who say c/he allows too much and those who say s/he allows too little through.
I regard comments such as that by Anon at 10:45 to be unworthy of attention except in so far as it draws readers' attention to his/her mindset and the news ain't good for Anon 10:45.
I hope you reconsider your withdrawal from our conversations as you add to them with your experience and insights.

Thanks: will give it all some thought.

Hmm to the moderator, glad you are keeping an eye on things, but I'd suggest that you have a firm grasp of the wrong end of the stick if you are defending JoanneW.

To Joanne W, you seem to go from a bully attitude to playing the victim very quickly. A very leftist trait. You want to dish it out but start howling when people pull you up on your comments.

Please go, no loss here.

Nope, all personal vitriol, no substance.
