Clive Bibby: A wake up call with international implications

Glenn Youngkin’s surprise emphatic victory in this week’s Virginia State Governor’s race is a result with implications for politicians of incumbent governments throughout the Free World.

Remember that this traditionally blue state was won easily by Biden over Donald Trump with a margin of 10 points at the last Presidential election in 2020.

The dramatic turnaround in voter preference this time is not only a rare occurrence in states that have been regarded as part of the Democrat firewall, it is looking like being part of a trend that is spreading across that country and doesn’t bode well for the “mid term” elections if you are a Biden supporter.

In fact, upon examination, the result sends clear warnings to virtually every corner of the globe about the danger of tampering with what the bulk of the populace consider to be sacrosanct areas that determine quality of opportunity for all.

For most voters living in our type of democracies, there are certain things we all agree on that are all about freedoms of choice and respect for individual character.

Even a hint of attempts to change the rules governing those cornerstones of society send alarm bells ringing with the majority, no matter which political party is trying to fiddle the books while hoping that we won’t notice.

Fortunately, these clandestine activities are usually discovered before they are set in stone as part of the laws we are expected to obey.

Unfortunately however, recent experience tells us that we need to be constantly vigilant in order to ferret out these unscrupulous radicals who want to impose their ideology on an innocent and seemingly disinterested population whether we like it or not.

The root cause of voter outrage in the Virginian election appears to be the Governor’s sanctioning or even promotion of an introduction of the “critical race theory” to the syllabus of the State’s education system. He is not alone in his betrayal of confidence.

Others are trying it on and will most likely suffer the same rejection as well when their turn at the ballot box comes round.

It will escape no one that there is a parallel in this country for that sort of interference against the wishes of those who have to live with the consequences.

And hopefully the outrage at our government’s introduction of race based and revisionist programmes to the curriculum in our schools will be just as emphatic and consequential when we next get the chance to show our displeasure.

I’m picking that the old saying - “you can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time” is about to be played out in Godzone just like it is in the USA.

The thing that is baffling about all these uninvited Marxist doctrines is that they ever get past the “Spin doctors” who appear to be in charge of what passes for government policy. We have them here.

I would have thought that those guys would be observing what is happening across the US and looking at their contract to see if the detail includes an escape clause that ensures a safe exit before the sh#t hits the fan.

Because, believe me - the US experience is about to be repeated in New Zealand as well. You don’t have to be a political genius to read the signs. Just watch a reliable news channel or read a respectable journal if you can find one. Thankfully, there are still a few who are capable of recognising the truth - even in this country.

Good luck!

The mid-term US elections are the death-knell of many an administration, rendering it impotent as they lose the Senate and/or the House of Representatives.
Biden's lame performance to date does not bode well which means his last 2 years in office will likely be meaningless.

As long as Adern gives hard working tax payer's money to all the no hopers and lazy bastards at increasing amounts she will win next time. Main stream media only report fairy dust stories so the average public sheeple remain ignorant of the truth. The Groundswell protest is a chance to get some real news time, if the woke channels and newspapers cover it. Kiwialan.

You are right Clive - But unless you know where to look to get the alternative information we are stuck with the taxpayer funded TV 1, cut and past from CNN - some of it quite unbelievable, in its falseness.
