David Farrar: Maybe NZTA will now focus on helping motorists, not hindering them

The Herald reports:

paul reynolds, the former chairman of Waka Kotahi the nz transport agency, has resigned from the board.

Reynolds had been on the board only since February.

Cassandra Cowley has been appointed acting chairwoman.

patrick reynolds, also appointed to the board by the former Labour Government, has also resigned. Both names have gone from the Waka Kotahi website.

nzta badly needs a change of direction,. It needs directors who see their job as being how to help people travel to their destinations using their preferred travel mode.

David Farrar runs Curia Market Research, a specialist opinion polling and research agency, and the popular Kiwiblog where this article was sourced. He previously worked in the Parliament for eight years, serving two National Party Prime Ministers and three Opposition Leaders.

Unless only there as a 5th columnist pro maori, it seems strange to resign following just a name change (which, until Simeon oveerides, still includes the words Waka Kotahi in the title, instead of just as an alternative for the obsessed.)

This is great news! People jumping from the waka before they are pushed overboard into the cold blue sea. It's a pity they don't have to pay back the millions wasted on useless and annoying speed humps. Or we could dig them up and they could use them for flotation devices.
Good riddance but I guess they were only trying to please Princess Xi.
