Ross Meurant: Sir Winston – I was wrong

As one digests the impact Winston Peters has had on New Zealand’s future, since the coalition got seated in the House, I am compelled to say, I was wrong.

I did not expect Winston to measure up to his pre-election predictions that he would rectify the wrongs of the Labour government’s term of what I consider to have been, a term of terror.

A term of enforced lockdown, ostensibly at the behest of pharmaceutical phantoms who made billions by producing untested unproven vaccines and judging by the number of covid cases at the moment, of highly questionable benefit.

A term of enforced apartheid – from stripping the rights of the majority to appease the demands of a minority being pushed by pseudo-Māori leaders – some of whom are currently threatening New Zealand with virtual civil war if the apartheid is removed.

A term of enforced highly biased “news” via state funded or state supported media outlets.

Arise Sir Winston.

Winston Peters alone, stands in defiance of these threats as he begins to unravel the legally entrenched avenue to apartheid: from Sir John Key’s support for adoption of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) to exposing media bias and to standing against adopting amendments to WHO health regulations to allow the government to consider these against a ‘national interest test’.

Question?

Where is the Prime Minister on these issues of fundamental rights of all Kiwis?

Oh.  Inflation.  Yep.  It’s a problem, but a global issue and as most recognise, NZ follows the rest of the west.  Self-imposed apartheid however, is not an issue where NZ merely follows international economic trends.

Question?

Where is David Seymour on the issue of “Maorification” against which he stridently campaigned?

Oh.  Maybe it’s a case of, “Fake it till you make it”?

In my objective not subjective assessment (see disclosures), Winston is showing New Zealand, who should be Prime Minister.

Disclosure:

A former National MP of 3 terms – some of which I was very close to Winston.

I was Winston’s parliamentary services paid primary industries adviser for 2 years post my term as an MP- but we parted company over the Scampi Affair.

I voted ACT in 2023.

Well said Ross. I also voted Act but bloody pleased we have a cantankerous Peters taking no prisoners.

Peters has a chance to redeem himself and seems to be doing it. Only been a week, can he sustain the stance? He needs to.

I voted for Winston on his Principles. He is the Politician who will go the distance.
We need Winston no doubts

Yesss! Well pleased with Winston. But don't be unfair to David. I'll bet he has not lost sight of co-governance - just so long as it's happening, it suits him well. His Ministry is vitally important - let him get on with it.

Winston is always on a mission. He's like a dog with a bone. I'm glad I voted for his party. Everyone seems full of hope at present, let's hope Luxon won't let us down.

We said Ross. I am a ACT Party member and voted for ACT in 2023. I have just read your book The Beat to the Beehive and in your maiden speech to Parliament in 1987 (36 years ago)you nailed the situation we find ourselves in today with Maori in New Zealand.

You said: "pharmaceutical phantoms who made billions by producing untested unproven vaccines".

How do you reconcile the segment on your Wikipedia entry which states:

"During the COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand, Meurant joined several businessmen and former politicians including former National and ACT leader Don Brash in establishing a company called Covax-NZR Limited to import Russia's untested Gam-COVID-Vac (also known as Sputnik V) vaccine into the country. By late August 2020, they had submitted paperwork through the Russian Embassy to establish supply and distribution arrangements to import the vaccine".

I guess it would be silly not to cash, right?

At that stage of the game it was exploring options.
Time passes. Now I acknowledge that faith in “the systems” is what reason is not.

Annon
Sputnik exploration was early days - at stage when most had faith that the plan to provide vaccinations, was the cure to what we were being told, was a tsunami of death.

Time passes. Credibility of MSM arises. Voltaire appears.

"Faith consists in believing what reason cannot."
